Pleasure Beach Resort have today announced an exciting roster of updates for the 2025 season. Following the previously announced closure of a number of attractions within the resort, Pleasure Beach have formally addressed their current ‘transformational period’ at a 2025 season launch event, announcing a series of investments for the 2025 season and beyond.
New Gyro Swing for 2026
Rumours have been swirling about the potential arrival of an Intamin Gyro Swing at Pleasure Beach since back in August 2024, and the resort have today confirmed that the popular model will be a new addition for 2026. Following the clearance of the building towards the end of the 2024 season, the former Bowl-A-Drome area of the park has been clad in construction walls for the 2025 season and has now been confirmed as the location for the attraction. In promotional materials released today, the resort have also confirmed that the gyro swing will reach 138ft at its tallest point, the same height achieved by Loke at Liseberg, a ride widely recognised as one of the best flat rides in Europe.
Though the UK is already home to two very popular gyro swing attractions, this new installation is set to be nearly twice the size of the existing models. For instance, Maelstrom at Drayton Manor Resort reaches a maximum height of 74ft.
The ride’s location at the north of the resort is also set to make riders feel as though they are being swung out to sea, further setting this particular installation apart.
CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, Amanda Thompson OBE, said:
“We’re thrilled to confirm the addition of a Gyro Swing at Pleasure Beach Resort, with work already underway. We’re well known for doing things on a large scale, so becoming home to the largest Gyro Swing in the UK made complete sense.
The Gyro Swing is one of the most exciting flat rides in existence – it’s dynamic, fast, and incredibly high, as well as being completely weightless at the top. It will be a fantastic addition to our ride line-up and we can’t wait to see people’s reactions when they experience it for the first time.”
The £8.72M investment will be the first new ground-up attraction at the resort since the addition of Icon in 2018.
Launch Pad opening Spring 2025
Launch Pad, the reimagined Ice Blast attraction, will open to guests this Spring. After remaining closed for the 2024 season, the S&S Space Shot has received a completely new look, sporting a red, white and blue colour scheme in addition to new hardware.
In the resort’s season launch video, Director of Operations Andy Hygate said that Launch Pad will offer ‘a completely new system that will revolutionise the ride experience.’
Could we see the former shot tower now offer a shot-and-drop experience? With a spring opening confirmed, we will find out very soon.
Vengeance Most Fowl comes to Pleasure Beach Resort
With the phenomenal success of the latest Wallace and Gromit movie, Vengeance Most Fowl, in 2024, many fans have been wondering whether Wallace & Gromit’s Thrill-O-Matic would see any alteration to accommodate the film. We now know that the answer is yes! The resort have confirmed that new additions are coming to the attraction in the 2025 season, and guests can look forward to seeing new villain Norbot debut within the ride, alongside an increased presence from the iconic Feathers McGraw.
River Caves Reimagined
Ice Blast isn’t the only attraction at Pleasure Beach to be reimagined following an extended period of closure. River Caves is also set to to undergo a transformation during the 2025 season. The attraction, which turns 120 years old this year, opened briefly at the beginning of the 2024 season but has remained closed ever since, with many fans speculating as to its future. Though we do not currently have a timescale for these works, the resort have reassured fans that work is ‘already underway’, however it’s uncertain whether we can expect to ‘float down the river of dreams’ in the 2025 season.
With no further information regarding these works, the degree to which the beloved attraction will be altered is unknown, though a sneak peek inside the attraction can be seen in the season launch video.
