Hyperia

In 2024, Thorpe Park opened Hyperia, the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster. This Mack Rides Hyper Coaster replaced the area previously known as Old Town, and principally Logger’s Leap following its closure in 2015.

Hyperia’s story is a fulfilling one. She was the daughter of an ancient river God who’s fear of water imprisoned her on the island she called home. Hyperia conquered her fear of water by defying it. She became a legend, a symbol of triumph over adversity, and a testament to the power that lies within each person to overcome their deepest fears. And now it’s your turn.

Climbing to a height of 236ft, Hyperia features one of the best first drops on the planet. Riders traverse a twisting vertical drop that features extreme ejector airtime throughout the descent, before reaching a top speed of over 80mph. A series of large and intense elements then follow, including a non-inverting Immelmann, the incredible outerbank turn and inversion (named the Kremer Roll after its designer Maurice Kremer from Mack Rides), a hangtime-filled stalled dive loop and an ejector-filled outward banked airtime hill. Hyperia is marketed as the rollercoaster that has the most weightless moments in the UK, with a total of 14.8 seconds of airtime.
