With the new season just around the corner, LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is gearing up to unveil its latest attraction: Minifigure Speedway, the world’s first LEGO duelling roller coaster. To provide a glimpse into what the attraction will be like, LEGOLAND invited us down to take a look around the site of the new coaster, and to come face to face with the iconic mascot of this new attraction, Roxie Racer.

Minifigure Speedway will be the tallest and fastest coaster at the park, reaching speeds of 34mph, and featuring both a red and blue track each providing a unique ride layout. This duelling coaster is manufactured by Zierer, a German theme park attraction manufacturer, who has worked with LEGOLAND resorts across the globe to bring to life exciting and unique attractions such as Polar X-Plorer at LEGOLAND Billund, and Feuerdrache at LEGOLAND Deutschland. Featuring state-of-the-art technology, this £10m roller coaster is the first of its type by Zierer, and will feature Team Legends and Team Allstars cars that race forwards and in reverse, with a winning team every time.

To build the excitement ahead of Minifigure Speedway’s potential Easter opening, LEGOLAND Windsor has today unveiled Roxie, the world’s largest LEGO minifigure, or should we say maxifigure? Weighing 6 tonnes and standing 30ft in height, Roxie dwarfs the landscape surrounding her, and donning a striking racing suit, this character is the perfect mascot for a coaster that promises to really open up the throttle within the park’s coaster line up! Requiring a specialist pit-crew to install the towering minifigure into her new home, Roxie provides a totally bespoke character to the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort.

Helen Bull, Divisional Director at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, said:

“It’s a big day for all the team at the Resort to see the world’s tallest minifigure, Roxie, take pride of place in our new attraction, Minifigure Speedway. There’s nowhere else in the world you can see Roxie, she’s entirely bespoke to us here at LEGOLAND Windsor – we can’t wait for everyone to see her!”

Hannah ‘Phiz’ Phizacklea, Lead Creative on Minifigure Speedway at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort said:

“The unveiling of Roxie as the world’s tallest LEGO minifigure is a dream come true for me. Growing up playing with LEGO and visiting the park, it feels very special to have been part of the team that dreamed up an authentic LEGO character.”

“Roxie is a strong female role model, and it was important we created an iconic character that children can look up to – literally! Minifigure Speedway brings a real thrill element to the park especially for older kids who will love the competitiveness of racing against each other as one of the All Stars or Legends.”

The unveiling of Roxie, alongside the release of more information and a sneak peak up close with Minifigure Speedway signifies a thrilling new chapter for LEGOLAND Windsor Resort. We can’t wait to experience this new attraction, and get to know Roxie over the course of the season ahead!

Our February 8th construction update can be found in our dedicated Minifigure Speedway gallery, and check out the video below featuring some great cinematic shots of Roxie herself!
