Following the debut of Minifigure Speedway in 2024, a new set of family duelling coasters from Zierer, LEGOLAND Windsor has a year of small but impactful enhancements around the park. The resort does not have a new flagship attraction for the 2025 season yet has instead focused on refurbishing and revitalising existing LEGO models, attractions, buildings, shows and areas across the park.

Entrance Portal

Construction has recently finished on the brand new entrance portal. Now fitting more in line with the other LEGO parks across the world, the portal is heavily themed, featuring giant LEGO recreations of key attractions within the park, notably including attractions such as The Dragon and LEGO Ninjago at the top of the two pillars on either side of the walkway.

The removal of the ticket booths has opened up the area, creating a spacious plaza and a clear focal point through the portal. According to LEGOLAND, this has been undertaken to ensure the resort has a ‘contemporary appearance’ that is ‘vibrant and welcoming’. In May 2024, planning permission was submitted to remodel the entire front entrance and The Beginning area of the park. Whilst this project has been scaled back somewhat, it was great to see the new entrance portal when entering the park.

LEGO City Live: Ultimate Stunt Showdown

The main highlight of the summer season is the brand-new stunt show which is running from 1st to 31st August at the Heartlake Harbour Arena. Starring Duke DeTain, a LEGO City police officer, the show features a fun and engaging story about a daring mission to recover a special phone from an infamous villain known as No Face. Duke’s trainee officer Sam joins the mission to retrieve the phone. The show is entertaining and engaging whilst including funny jokes and epic stunts for the whole family to enjoy.

After the announcement of Merlin partnering with RWS Global in April 2025 – a renowned provider of immersive live experiences, there were some concerns about the future of live entertainment at the resort theme parks. It is safe to say that this show is the perfect successor to the Pirates of Skeleton Bay which had run for many years. The current show lasts approximately 15 minutes which is perfect for the LEGOLAND audience and during our visit was running at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. The only criticism is that it is currently having a short month long run, and we hope that this show can become a regular part of LEGOLAND WIndsor’s line up. We cannot wait to see what new shows come to the park in the future.

LEGO Insiders Clubhouse

To the right of the main entrance area, the building once home to the interactive Build and Make Creation Centre in The Beginning section of the park has been refurbished to become the LEGO Insiders Clubhouse. Guests are invited to help shape the future of LEGO play by becoming a LEGO play tester in order to collect a special agent pass and take part in interactive challenges.

Miniland London Refurbishment

Miniland has undergone a £1 million transformation, adding seven new skyscrapers to the miniature London skyline. The new buildings include the Cheesegrater, the Gherkin, One Canada Square and City Hall. The entirety of the London section of Miniland feels very fresh and is a most welcome update. These changes have been made from over two million LEGO bricks and took the LEGO model builder team 10,800 hours to build these new additions.

LEGOLAND Express Updates

The much-loved childhood classic attraction, the LEGOLAND Express has been brought into the modern era with a refurbishment and transformation for the 2025 season. The attraction has received an all new storyline about a photographer on the search for the perfect shot. The entire station building has received new signage, lighting upgrades and has been fully repainted. Throughout the ride there are many new enhancements including new animatronics, new LEGO figures, water effects and lighting upgrades. There is so much more to see, and ties in better to the attractions that the train passes, and engages guests through the onboard audio telling the story.

Deep Sea Adventure Returns

After a yearlong hiatus, the much-loved Deep Sea Adventure attraction has returned to LEGOLAND Windsor. The submarine attraction from German manufacturer Mack Rides has new LEGO models throughout the experience and has an additional focus on educating guests about the ocean and marine life.

LEGO Festival

Earlier in the season, LEGOLAND Windsor debuted the LEGO Festival event which ran from 3rd May to 11th June. The festival included five interactive Festival Zones across the park known as the gaming, music, dance, creative and chill out zones. Guests were also greeted by a large LEGO sculpture which said ‘I Love Play’ at the front of the park which was made from 120,913 LEGO bricks. This event had a lot of infrastructure set up around the park to add something extra to everyone’s day while visiting. It was great to see an event on this scale ran at LEGOLAND Windsor.

The Future…

It is great to see so many updates and enhancements come to LEGOLAND Windsor for the 2025 season. So much is happening around the park to improve the guest experience. One thing we did notice on our visit was the short operational hours during peak summer holidays, with the park closing at 5pm despite the majority of attractions still having large queues and the park still being extremely busy. It would be great to see 6pm or even 7pm closures at the park to give guests longer to experience the attractions while the park is experiencing additional levels of crowds.

In the future we would love to see the rest of The Beginning area overhauled as the submitted plans have shown to bring that entire area up to the new standard set by the entrance portal. Additionally, the former location of the puppet show is currently under work walls, and would be great to see the planned enhancements take place for this area as there is currently still a gap where the park would benefit from more live entertainment.

Viking River Splash is also standing but not operating behind work walls. This rapids ride has such a huge footprint and has unfortunately become a large eyesore on the hillside at the park. This attraction can be seen from multiple areas and goes around one of the two main pathways down from The Beginning. We hope this is the next area to see a new attraction and significant development within the park.

During the most recent closed season, Sky Rider was removed from the park without any prior announcement, with work walls up around the former ride station. Hopefully the park will invest in a new attractions for this area too.
