Thorpe Park Resort, Chessington World of Adventures Resort, and LEGOLAND Windsor Resort have announced that they will be re-opening their gates to guests from Saturday 4th July.
The announcement follows the successful opening of the Zoo at Chessington on 18th June and is in line with the UK Government’s latest guidance on the re-opening of visitor attractions and hospitality businesses.
The Resorts will re-open with the majority of outdoor rides and attractions available. There will be restrictions on the number of guests able to visit the parks each day, to ensure guests have the best possible experience and social distancing can be maintained.
The following safety and hygiene measures have been implemented until further notice:
- Pre-booking tickets: All guests to pre-book tickets online in advance of their visit to enable capacity control.
- Thermometer checks: To be safely admitted into the Resorts, employees and guests will be asked to participate in a temperature check using a non-touch thermometer
- Face coverings: Guests over the age of 6 will be asked to wear face coverings or masks on some of the attractions
- Cleaning protocols: Enhanced cleaning, hygiene stations and additional hand sanitiser at key locations
- Distance markers: The provision of spatial separation markings and other similar operating adjustments around the attractions, with the inclusion of all rides
- Use of PPE: Additional Personal Protective Equipment and clothing for all staff
Although some indoor attractions will remain closed until further notice, the Resorts have plenty of outdoor activities for guests to enjoy such as the Zoo at Chessington, Miniland at LEGOLAND, and Amity Beach at Thorpe Park, meaning there is plenty of space for visitors to enjoy in their household groups whilst maintaining a safe distance from other families.
Guests over the age of 6 will be required to wear a face covering on the following rides:
Thorpe Park: Stealth, Swarm, Nemesis Inferno, Colossus, SAW The Ride, Flying Fish, Detonator, Samurai, King Pig’s Wild Hog Dodgems, Samurai, Vortex, Zodiac, Mr Monkey’s Banana Ride, and Storm in a Teacup.
LEGOLAND: The Dragon, Mia’s Riding Adventure, Jolly Rocker, Spinning Spider, LEGO® City Deep Sea Adventure, and Merlin’s Challenge.
At the time of publishing this article, Chessington are yet to confirm which rides will require guests to wear a face covering.
Guests are encouraged to bring a suitable face covering with them or purchase one on arrival. Guests will not be permitted on the above rides without a face covering unless they are under the age or 6 or have certain medical conditions or disabilities.
All of the Resorts hotels and accommodation will reopen from 4th July following the Government update, other than Chessington’s Explorer Glamping which will re-open in 2021. Similar hygiene and social distancing measures will be in place within the accommodation, which will be also initially reopening with reduced capacity.
It has not yet been confirmed if Fastrack will be available at Chessington. LEGOLAND have confirmed they hope to reintroduce Reserve and Ride at a later date. Thorpe Park have stated that if guests have pre-booked Fastrack bundles for use between and 27th March and the 3rd July, their Fastrack will be valid for use on any date during the 2020 season, excluding FRIGHT NIGHTS and any pre-advertised closed dates as outlined on their website.
