Thorpe Park Resort and Chessington World of Adventures Resort were both victorious at last night’s ScareCON SCAR Awards with both attractions picking up one award each.
Beating off competition from the likes of Alton Towers Resort; Scare Kingdom Scream Park, and Tulley’s Shocktoberfest, Chessington World of Adventures Resort walked away with the prize for ‘Best Original Concept’ for Creepy Caves, whilst Thorpe Park Resort won the award for ‘Best Set, Costume and Make-Up’ for The Walking Dead: Living Nightmare.
Chessington World of Adventures Resort’s victory is its first SCAR Award victory, something which is a testament to the hard work put in by the Chessington team to their 2017 offering. Thorpe Park Resort’s win marks their first award since Cabin in the Woods won ‘Best Halloween Scare Attraction’ in 2014, although they have received multiple nominations in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
However, there was disappointment for Alton Towers Resort who walked away empty handed despite receiving two nominations.
Now in its eleventh year, the SCAR awards are held annually by ScareCON in association with ScareTOUR (a site dedicated to providing independent reviews of scare attractions all over the world) and Fear FX. Held at a well-known attraction each year, the 2018 ScareCON event was held at Alton Towers Resort on 22nd & 23rd May 2018, and brought together professionals from across the scare industry, including designers, owners, fans and experts.
