World of PAW Patrol is now open at Chessington World of Adventures! Ahead of the official opening, Attraction Source was amongst those invited to preview everything that the new land has to offer pre-schoolers and their families.

The entrance to World of PAW Patrol is situated past Burnt Stub Manor, near to the penguin enclosure and AMAZU – upon approach to the area, the bright blue entrance portal which bears the area’s logo certainly can’t be missed! Beyond the portal, guests’ eyelines are likely to be drawn to the iconic Lookout Tower, which has been perfectly positioned to be straight ahead of the entrance, at the far end of the area. The main walkways through the area are themed as the roads of Adventure Bay, leading guests to all of the different attractions that await them.

To mark the opening of World of PAW Patrol, DJ Rubble hosted a dance party outside of Adventure Bay’s City Hall building, with tunes including the popular Pup Pup Boogie. Chase and Marshall also joined for the occasion, along with additional entertainment laid on for the launch weekend. Prior to the area being declared open for the preview, speeches were given by Rob Smith (Chief Operating Officer at Merlin Entertainments), Vlad Perelman (Vice President, Global Business, LBE at Paramount), and Nick Bevan (Vice President for Chessington World of Adventures). PAWject Manager Hallie was also on hand to help open the area to guests following a countdown.

Although the City Hall building will ordinarily host meet and greet opportunities with the PAW Patrol pups throughout the day, due to this being utilised for the launch event, the pups were instead found out and about in the area, with Skye also making an appearance alongside Chase, Marshall and Rubble.

The flagship attraction in the area is Chase’s Mountain Mission, a Zierer junior coaster. Located at the far side of the area, the ride’s entrance is located next to the Lookout Tower, with the first part of the main queue line taking the form of a cattle-pen situated behind the Lookout Tower. A Fastrack and Ride Access Pass queue is also available. The Lookout Tower also incorporates a slide, allowing those who are perhaps not tall enough to ride to get in on the action. Guests eventually reach the doors at the front of the Lookout and are batched inside for a short pre-show which sees guests transported via an ‘elevator’ to the top of the tower. Here Ryder explains that Mayor Goodway and Chickaletta are stuck on a high-up tightrope after a hungry eagle interrupted her tightrope lesson with Francois, trying to eat his baguette. Therefore Chase and Everest require the help of the Junior Patrollers to complete the rescue and save the day! Another ‘elevator’ scene returns guests to ground level where they exit into the final part of the queue, which winds itself up to the coaster’s station building. This part of the queue line incorporates some alpine-inspired planting, which continues into the ride area.

The station building appears to be themed to an alpine cabin, with the incorporation of lighting features and wooden cladding applied to some of the structure, although the metal roof has been left exposed. Nonetheless, some 3D snow elements have been added to the roof’s exterior. In order to complete the mission, guests climb into one of the eight rows of Chase’s high-speed rescue vehicle, with Chase himself located at the front of the train. Upon dispatch, the train climbs the lift hill into the mountains to reach Mayor Goodway and Chickaletta, before descending into a helix around a themed rockwork structure and traversing a small hill and turns through trees in order to return to the station. Audio around the ride brings to life the various characters and the rescue. However, a second trip is required to save the day, with the train completing a second lap of the circuit before guests disembark and set off to complete their next rescue elsewhere in Adventure Bay. Chessington has been missing a ride like this from its line up, and it’s the perfect first coaster for little ones with a minimum height restriction of just 0.9m, which is the same for all the rides in the area.

Near the front of the area, Zuma’s Hovercraft Adventure sees guests navigate the waters from Adventure Bay to Seal Island to deliver a new lightbulb to the top of the lighthouse. The attraction offers a unique as the UK’s first Zierer Drifter ride. Consisting of nine hovercraft-themed gondolas, each seating two people, guests use a handbrake-style lever in the centre to trigger the gondola to swing out as the ride rotates. With the resulting lateral forces, this makes for a surprisingly thrilling experience. Outside of the ride is a photo opportunity with Zuma and a seal.

Situated on the west-side of the area is Skye’s Helicopter Heroes, a Zamperla Samba Tower. Guests can take to the skies in Skye’s helicopter for a high-flying rescue mission and birds-eye views over Adventure Bay. On board audio ties the ride’s story in with the nearby play feature that is themed to Captain Turbot’s boat, which is being attacked by a giant octopus, with Skye using her rescue harness to pull the boat free. A model of Skye can be found outside of the ride.

The area’s fourth and final ride is Marshall’s Firetruck Rescue, which is located in its eastern corner. Prepare to rock and roll through the streets of Adventure Bay on board the bright red firetruck as guests help save a kitten in need. The ride has seen the relocation and retheme of Jungle Bus from the Resort’s former Wild Asia area. There is also a firetruck photo opportunity outside of the ride, alongside a model of Marshall.

In the centre of the area is Rubble & Rocky’s Playzone. Here little builders can slide, climb and explore on the hands-on, climbable construction zone with Rubble before stepping into Rocky’s Recycle Yard to climb, crawl and tinker their way through a maze of repurposed parts. Models of both Rubble and Rocky, complete with audio, can be found in their respective areas, along with interactive versions of their respective bulldozer and recycling truck vehicles.

A range of PAW Patrol merchandise, including both generic items and those which are exclusive to World of PAW Patrol, are available from the PAW Patrol Gift Shop. Products exclusive to the area include magnets, keyrings, jewel sets and various clothing items. Several of the shelving units are themed to the pups vehicles, and there are also Lookout Tower and Paw Patroller theming features which also double as photo opportunities. Plush toys of various sizes can also be won from the Hook a Bone midway game, found out in the area.

For those feeling peckish whilst visiting World of PAW Patrol, there are a selection of themed food and drink options available from Rescue Refreshments, including sweet and savoury crepes, sandwiches and doughnuts. Branded ‘Pup Packs’ are also on offer, consisting of a sandwich, Pom Bears and juice.

The launch of World of PAW Patrol brings to a close just over a year and a half of following the project’s progression, with the first details having been revealed as part of a public consultation in September 2024. Although only limited details for the development, referred to as Project Play, were shared at this stage, this did include confirmation of Chessington’s intentions to redevelop part of Mexicana and the Children’s Zoo into a new themed land. The submission of the full planning application in December 2024 provided a more detailed indication of the rides and other elements that would await in the new area. Following the application’s approval in February 2025, just over a year ago, in April 2025, Chessington officially announced that the new area would be themed to PAW Patrol and open in Spring 2026.

By the time of this announcement, the majority of the demolition works had taken place, seeing the departure of Scorpion Express, various buildings in Mexicana, and the entirety of the Children’s Zoo. This enabled construction to progress at pace over the course of the 2025 season, with the hardware for Chase’s Mountain Mission and Skye’s Helicopter Heroes installed during the last few months of 2025. During the closed season, Attraction Source were granted a couple of exclusive opportunities to visit the construction site and see the latest progress, including completion of the Lookout Tower. Work on the area appeared substantially completed by the end of March 2026, allowing a month for the finishing touches to be completed and promotional content captured.

World of PAW Patrol is undoubtedly a well-executed new area that features a good selection of rides and activities for families and impressively brings the cartoon world of PAW Patrol to life, with the integration of audio throughout key to this. Based on the excited reactions of the younger guests who the area is targeted at, it certainly looks set to be a hit, filling a gap which Chessington had in its attraction line-up. There is notably a lot of lighting integrated into the area and its attractions, suggesting that thought has been given to how it will look after dark, which perhaps is a sign that later openings are planned for the future. The immersion achieved by the area is only slightly disrupted by the visibility of Rattlesnake and Croc Drop, and an un-themed section of perimeter fencing at the back of the area, next to the queue for Chase’s Mountain Mission. Nonetheless, as an example of what Merlin and Chessington can achieve with an IP-themed area, this bodes well for Minecraft World which is set to open in 2027.
