Earlier this week, Attraction Source was granted exclusive access by Chessington World of Adventures Resort to the construction site of the new for 2026 PAW Patrol land to gain a unique perspective of the latest progress and witness the installation of the first major component of one of the area’s new family flat rides.
Following the approval of the planning application for Project Play earlier in the year and subsequent reveal that the land would be themed to PAW Patrol, the site has been very active throughout the 2025 season, starting with the demolition of part of Mexicana and the Children’s Zoo which then enabled construction of the new area, aimed at preschoolers and their families, to get underway from Summer onwards.
Shortly after the end of the main season, attention turned to erecting the supports and track for the area’s new Zierer Junior Coaster, with this fully installed in time for Annual Pass Day last weekend. Nonetheless, our visit onto the construction site enabled us to appreciate the rollercoaster from some new angles and how it will dominate the back of the land. The red track and blue supports give a taste of how colourful the completed land will be, along with the rockwork theming features providing an insight into how guests will be immersed into the cartoon world of PAW Patrol. The steelwork for the station building and associated walkway has also been completed, along with the installation of the air gates inside. Finally, we were also able to get up close to the metal structure that has been installed at what will be the entrance to the coaster’s queue line.
Whilst on the construction site, we also had the opportunity to watch crews install the purple central column for one of the area’s new family flat rides. Manufactured by Zamperla, the ride will see guests take flight in one of Skye’s helicopters, with the custom-themed gondolas having been amongst the components delivered to Chessington around a month ago. With the main column now in place, assembly of the rest of the ride will follow in short order.
Our visit also enabled us to get an up-close look at the facilities and retail building, for which the main exterior structure is now complete, with work underway inside. Theming and cladding are of course yet to be installed, in order to fully integrate the building into the world of PAW Patrol.
Thank you to the teams at Chessington and B&E Services for organising and facilitating the opportunity to visit the construction site – stay tuned to Attraction Source as we continue to follow the rest of the construction in the run up to the opening in Spring 2026!
