Following a short teaser campaign, Chessington World of Adventures Resort have confirmed details of their new Gruffalo themed attraction for 2017 – The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure.
Described as ‘The World’s First Gruffalo Ride’, the attraction will see guests join Mouse as they embark on a ‘magical riverboat journey’ into the Deep Dark Wood. Sitting in wooden tub themed boats, guests will encounter a whole range of characters from the popular children’s story as the world of The Gruffalo unfolds before their eyes, including some ‘exciting twists and turns along the way’.
Chessington’s latest attraction replaces the much loved Bubbleworks which closed on 6th September 2016 following 26 years at the Resort. It is expected that The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure will use the same transit system as Bubbleworks with the interior being completely transformed in order to transport guests to The Gruffalo’s world in the Deep Dark Wood. It will join The Chessington Adventure Tree carousel which will also be new for the 2017 season.
The Gruffalo will also be coming to the Safari Hotel with the introduction of four Gruffalo themed bedrooms. Guests will be able to stay in rooms which will see children able to stay in the safety of ‘Mouse’s Treehouse’, whilst adults can relax in the deep, dark wood. Rooms will also include a hidden Gruffalo gift, whilst guests will be able to watch The Gruffalo animated films. Guests will also receive fastrack access to the Resort’s rides, including the new The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure. These new rooms will be available for stays from 19th March 2017. Elsewhere across the Resort a new retail shop and food and beverage outlet will offer Gruffalo themed products, and guests will be able to meet The Gruffalo himself in character meet and greets.
This will not be the first time The Gruffalo has made an appearance at Chessington World of Adventures Resort with the character featuring in the Resort’s Winter’s Tail event in 2014 which included a live show on the Resort’s Africa Stage, character meet and greets, and themed quiz trail.
