The proposed extension will be located behind the existing restaurant site, on what is currently a smoking area and lockers between Explorer’s Pizza Pasta and Stubbs Sweet Shop in Market Square, and will create a new dining area and much needed additional capacity. Plans show that access to the new extension will be via a ‘canopied walkway’ on the south side of the building facing Market Square, giving direct access to the restaurant from one of the busiest areas of the park.
On the east side of the building, by Hocus Pocus Hall, an ‘Outdoor Cooking Area’ will be created, which will consist of a pitched roof, but no exterior walls. This area will feature a ‘Southern Pride’ cooking oven which will utilise a slow cooking process to cook food overnight, suggesting the outlet will offer barbecue or smokehouse style food. It is currently unclear if this area will offer takeaway food, or simply function as a cooking area to serve the main restaurant.
Also proposed is a ‘Grillhouse’. Comprising of a small kitchen which will incorporate BBQ type cooking equipment, the outlet will be located just in front of the proposed restaurant extension in Market Square. The building will feature a shutter on its western side indicating that it will offer guests takeaway barbecue style food.
These latest plans follow on from the recent opening of Captain’s Fish and Chips which saw the Resort extend their fish and chips restaurant, and appears to form part of an extended strategy to expand the capacity of the Resort’s under pressure food and beverage outlets.
