Project Dojo will see a new roller coaster open at LEGOLAND Windsor on the former site of Viking River Splash. Plans suggest that it will be a clone of Masters of Spinjitzu, a Mack Rides Family Spinning Coaster that opened at LEGOLAND Korea in 2025, which is consistent with the proposed site being adjacent to the existing LEGO NINJAGO World area. While not confirmed, it is expected that the coaster will open in 2028.

May 2026 – Coaster Plans

With demolition of Viking River Splash well underway, LEGOLAND Windsor submitted an application for a Lawful Development Certificate (LDC) for a new ‘Coaster Ride’ on the site. Codenamed Project Dojo, the plans detail a layout which is a clone of Masters of Spinjitzu, a Mack Rides Family Spinning Coaster that opened at LEGOLAND Korea in 2025.

The plans submitted indicate that the coaster’s layout will occupy only around a third of the total footprint of Viking River Splash, specifically the hill above Spinning Spider utilised by the first portion of the rapids’ layout. The LDC relates only to the proposed installation of plant and machinery in the form of a coaster ride, along with ancillary elements including operators’ cabin, loading platform and perimeter fencing, which is considered to be Permitted Development. Within less than two weeks, over 25% of Viking River Splash has now been removed. The section of the ride which was directly above of Spinning Spiders has been the main focus point thus far. With the reinforcement metal which has been removed from the concrete all piled to one side, where the rapids once stood is becoming concrete rubble and dirt very quickly. Temporary metal fencing has been placed where the trough once was to mark to workers that they are nearing the large drop down the hill side. It has been great to see so much progress made on this project in such as small amount of time.

30th March 2026

Demolition on Viking River Splash is now well underway with the sections of the concrete already beginning to gradually be grinded away. During our visit we saw machinery actively being used to turn the once fun water ride into a pile of rubble. With demolition set to continue across the coming months, this is a project which is going to make a significant change on the hillside at LEGOLAND Windsor.

With work set to begin on the demolition of Viking River Splash on Monday 9th March, here are some photos of the ride prior to official demolition beginning – the former rapids have sat abandoned since September 2023.

February 2026 – Demolition Plans

LEGOLAND Windsor submitted a prior notification application for the demolition of Viking River Splash to take place between March and November 2026. These documents noted that a separate planning application would be submitted later in 2026 for a new attraction on this site.
