Guests visiting Thorpe Park Resort this year will get the opportunity to star in their very own version of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here! as the park opens a new walk through maze for 2015.

Located on the former site of the Studio 13 and The Asylum scare mazes, the new attraction will feature a selection of the infamous Bushtucker Trials made famous by the ITV reality television series (although guests will be relieved to know they will not be expected to eat some of the ‘exotic delicacies’ featured in the show). Using the latest innovative technology and special effects to simulate the feeling of being covered in bugs, and to recreate an immersive jungle environment, the new attractions will bring the Australian Jungle to the heart of Thorpe Park Resort.

Guests will be greeted by Ant and Dec in a recorded briefing as they enter the maze and gather at camp – ‘Snake Rock’. Once fully briefed guests will make their way through the jungle embarking upon various trials along the route. However, even the journey between trials will be fraught with perils, with tunnels, crawly corridors, dark caves, a vibrating bridge walkway, and moving trees and walls. Amongst the trials guests will have to endure will be:

  • Holey Moley – A deceptive rock face with craters, cracks and crevices filled with critters. Guests will have to face their fear of the unknown and place their hands within the dark recesses to unlock a secret corridor to take them deeper into the jungle.
  • Chambers of Horror – Guests won’t want to look up as they step inside a shower cubicle with a difference. Asked a series of questions in a quiz show format, guests won’t want to get the incorrect answer as that could mean a Screaming Shower of critters from above.
  • Calamity Caves – Filled with a selection of eight-legged residents guests will have to make their way through the darkness making sure they don’t disturb anything along the way.
  • Celebrity Cyclone – The final trial guests will face will be the toughest of all. Fighting against water jets and high winds, guests will battle it out to be crowned King or Queen of the jungle.

A staple of the winter ITV schedules for 13 years, I’m a Celebrity has regularly drawn average viewing figures of over 10 million viewers demonstrating its lasting appeal amongst the British public. This new partnership with ITV follows on from Thorpe Park Resort’s collaboration with Rovio to create Angry Birds Land in 2014.

Speaking about the new addition, Mike Vallis, THORPE PARK Resort Divisional Director, commented:

After thirteen years of watching I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on the small screen, we’re delighted to offer our guests the chance to brave Bush Tucker Trials inspired by the hit TV show – you don’t have to be a celebrity to grab a slice of the action on our island! And the good news is that we don’t expect any of our guests to chew on a kangaroo’s less palatable parts.

Alongside the new attraction will be the Bush BBQ – a re-theme of the former Calypso/Back Lot BBQ – where guests can opt to try a selection of new sauces including Meal Worm Mayo and Critter Coleslaw.
