In a surprise move, Thorpe Park have applied for planning permission to build a resort hotel on the current site of the former Cemex works next to the car park.

The images have been taken from a large planning application uploaded to the Runnymede Borough Council website which include categories that cover the hotel, resort, travel, noise, and conservation considerations.

The proposed hotel will consist of 250 bedrooms, restaurants, bars, conference facilities and a health club. As well as new landscaping, a new 375 space car park will be created along with a new building for staff accommodation.

The attractive design has a similar style to the original Alton Towers Hotel, and with a lake side setting, should be a beautiful place to stay. The plans also mention the provision of a new boat service that links the hotel to the theme park, similar to the setup at international theme park resorts such as Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.

Year round operation is to be expected, which means the possibilities of winter theme park openings and exclusive ride time for hotel guests.

The new hotel resort should be a fantastic addition to Thorpe Park, which will encourage guests to stay for multiple days.
