Flight of the Pterosaur is a Vekoma family suspended coaster that opened in 2016 as one of the two headline attractions in Lost Kingdom at Paultons Park. The ride stands 65 feet tall, reaches speeds of up to 34 mph, and features 1,296 feet of track. While this coaster model has been cloned several times around the world, Paultons Park sets itself apart with extensive theming and rockwork that elevates the overall experience.

Operator Console

Take a look at the operator console for Flight of the Pterosaur. As the ride operates with a single train, it features a more streamlined console compared to attractions with more complex operations. Alongside the main controls, there is also a tablet used to monitor throughput, downtime, and queue times, as well as a screen displaying live CCTV footage of the ride and surrounding areas.

Ride Station

Take a look at views from the station of Flight of the Pterosaur. Due to the compact footprint of the attraction, the station also functions as the ride’s brake run, making efficient use of the available space.

Lift Hill

When Flight of the Pterosaur is dispatched, the ride turns slightly to the left prior to engaging with the friction wheel lift hill. A pad on the train pushes between two wheels driven by independant motors. The friction caused between the two wheels and the train push it up to the top of the lift hill.

Final Helix Ride Area

Take a look inside the ride area for Flight of the Pterosaur. The majority of the ride is suspended above the pathways, however the final helix has its own ride area before the ride re-enters the station. This area is surrounded by themed rockwork, jurrasic foliage and themed flooring. To enhance the experience as much as possible for guests, there is also a dinosaur animatronic located within this ride area.
