One thing i cannot get my head round is how they know where to place the foundations for a roller coaster e.g. Nemesis the foundations are all over the place. How do they know where to put them as id immagine that even the slightest miscalculation would mean a lot more work?

I know what you mean. When I'm looking at construction pictures, I'm always thinking what if they misalign the footers or the screws for the suppots to go onto, it could mean having to start the whole ride again. They must need some very good surveyors. I wonder if there ever has been a problem like this

Thats why theme parks employed trusted manufacturers and builders, hecne why rollercoasters cost so much to build.
