In 2024, Drayton Manor Resort opened Gold Rush, a new family-thrill lift and launch coaster manufactured by Intamin, continuing the park’s expansion under the ownership of the Looping Group. Featuring a height of 56ft and a top speed of 37mph, Gold Rush is the first coaster installed at Drayton Manor since 2011.
Switch Track 1 and Lift Hill
Gold Rush dispatches out of the station and heads onto the kicker wheel lift hill via switch track 1. Depending on the setting that Gold Rush is running, riders will head over the top of the lift hill or the switch track will be utilised to send riders backwards down a different section of track.
Switch Track 2 and Maintenance Shed
The second switch track features three sections of track. When looking from the launch shed, the left track is used to move trains into the maintnenance shed, the centre track takes riders to and from switch track 1 and the lift hill and finally the right track is what is used to connect the forwards section when the lift hill is used convertionally to the launch shed and other parts of the coaster.
Launch Shed
Take a unique look inside of the launch shed on Gold Rush. Riders enter this section of track twice during the attraction. The first time, riders are brought to a stop, there is a small show scene with lighting and flame effects before riders exit the shed the same way that they entered. The second time the ride comes into the launch shed, the train does not come to a stop and the launch is used as a boost to send riders forwards into the finalle section of the ride.
General Views
Check out some general views of Gold Rush taken from back of house and ride areas which are not accessible during the day to day operation of Drayton Manor. Within this area, there is a tomb stone which pays tribute to Apocalypse which once stood on this plot of land. Can you spot the shed where the rides power and computer systems are kept?
