Cobra is a Gerstlauer Bobsled roller coaster which opened at Paultons Park in 2006. The attraction features a height of 54 ft, a top speed of 31 mph and a track length of 1476ft. The attraction is a near clone of Thor’s Hammer at Djurs Sommerland but Cobra lacks one of the two final helixes.

Operator Booth

Cobra features a Gerstlauer operating console from the early 2000’s. The screen shows the block sections, sensors and ride components. CCTV is set up on the desk to show all areas of the roller coaster including the queue and maintenance area. There is also a control panel seperate from the main screen and a tablet to monitor throughputs, downtime and queue times. Cobra also has a secondary operator console on the ride platform which can be used by ride hosts.

Station

Cobra has got an area underneath the staion which gives access to the wheels and the underneath of the trains, there are also some electrial compoments which are used for when the vehicle is parked.

Lift Hill

Here are some views from underneath the lift hill. Cobra features two friction drive tires to assist the train when moving from the onload station to the chain lift hill. You can see some of the electrical components and sensors used as part of the lift hill.

Brakes and Transfer Track

Cobra has a piece of track prior to the covered station block sections which can be moved across to move trains from the maintenance area to the main track section. To use this, an engineering key must be present in the transfer controller.

Maintenance Shed

Inside Cobra’s maintenance area, ride engineers have a large space under the track to inspect the under side of the train, there are also ride parts, tools and components within the maintenance area which are used for the upkeep of the ride.
