Had an interesting suggested video pop-up this morning, which details the history and the mechanics of Altonia.
The engine is still operational and is maintained by volunteers at Old Kiln Light Railway just outside Farnham (coincidentally just down the road from Alton, Hampshire), who also managed to obtain a couple of its original carriages.
