Not necessarily, it depends on the ride and how much of it, where the track is made, how much the material is to buy, how much the logistics are, how much work needs to be done on the land all escalite ride costs. Costs between B&M and Intamin are pretty similar for thier major coasters.

Ya know, after looking at videos of this coaster, it doesnt seem to impress me as much as i hoped it would. I know that is no judgement, it just doesnt for some reason?!

Thought exactly the same, just doesn't seem to have it for me. Looks impressive yes but just doesn't live up to all the hype.

Aye yeah it does look amazing but still not as good as I thought it would be? :?

Although, people on TPR have come back and said it's their no1 steel coasters. However they just may be cos it's new.

Ah well! Looks amazing still!

Been checking the videos on Youtube everyday waiting for new videos and this one shows off something I didn’t know featured in the ride.

Just after the launch as it swoops down towards where the heartline roll used to be (now s-bend) a serious of cannons go off beside the train which looks rather impressive :D

I reckon the section on 16 seconds would be a huge headbanger!

WOW! It truly does look impressive, even without the heartline role. IMO it is definately high in my list of coasters to ride before I die. I have been thinking though, when it goes into the tunnel ready to launch, does it stop and then launch, or go in at the speed it is already at and the progressively speed up :? :?: May sound dumb but just an interest.

Well when Maverick was being constructed it was said it would come to a complete stop before being launched to 70mph however from POVs on youtube it appears to not slow down much at all before being launched.

Over the weekend at Cedar Point, Top Thrill Dragster decided to get stuck at the very top

This is only the 2nd time in its history it has done this with people on the ride, how lucky were the people on the ride at the time?

Haha! That is ace! Would love that to happen to me.

Also, I am really impressed that Cedar Point have a Blog like that on their website, and actually answer to questions asked in the comment box! Ahhhh… it is such a good park!

Pretty sure there is a vid of this from the first time it happened - you can see a guy going up in a lift and giving the train a push over!
AstroDan

Lucky? That would be awful, given that many people would get panicky. I myself would hate it (hyperventilation etc.).

Same! Being stuck on Magnum Force was bad enough and that was only 100-odd feet up!

I myself would love it, it's one of those things thats like marmite.

I know that I am in safe hands and a slight wind could push it back down anyway, I mean nothing bad could really happen.

Yeah Snap. I'd love it, would be ace up there.
cool Cool!!!I'd pay someone who worked on the ride if they could somehow make it stop on the top (i know it's not possible), but would be cool. I'd love to have a roll back, im sure they can make that happen. lol

In roughly half hour, Cedar Point are announcing their new ride for 2010. There has been a ton of really, really weird posts on their Twitter page. Here's something I wrote a few days ago on a blog to keep you all up to date with what's been going on, which I can't be bothered to write again:
Make of it what you will but Cedar Point currently seem to be conducting a rather surreal and unusual viral-marketing-cum-fan-wind-up campaign recently. It started normally enough on the park’s Twitter page in the middle of July, just your usual generic teaser for a new attraction in 2010.

“Want the head’s up on 2010? Stay tuned…somethin’s brewin’! #fb”

Then it started to get a little strange. Amid tweets advertising late openings or special deals, a series of obscure references to ride models or manufacturers that only a serious enthusiast would have any hope of understanding.

“Aquatrax?”

This is referring to the Aquatrax water coaster model by Intamin, of which there is currently only one in the world: Atlantic Adventure at Lotte World, Korea. This would make sense since Cedar Point lost a water ride for Maverick and it would tick off two boxes, that and adding another coaster to the collection. Then came:

“Gee, See Eye! #fb”

Which of course refers to wooden manufacturer Great Coasters International (GCI). If Cedar Point get another woodie, it’d almost certainly be either GCI, Gravity Group or an Intamin plug ‘n’ play. Next…

“I prefer my lunch TOGO…especially when there’s lightning around.”

This is just bizarre, since TOGO don’t even exist as a manufacturer anymore. If they did they would probably be just behind Zierer and Pinfari as the LAST people Cedar Fair would buy a major new ride off, so this is probably just a tounge-in-cheek way of saying “don’t trust anything we say”. The lightning part does crop up later though. Who knows, maybe TOGO are coming back from the dead with some sort of looney design beyond the realms of our imagination…

“Harnesses? Check. Wheels? Check. #fb”

This could mean anything, but I guess implies a coaster as opposed to a water ride (forgetting that all modern water rides have wheels anyway). Next…

“New Point Poll question: What’s going on in 2010? http://bit.ly/AdykP #fb”

If you follow the link, you get to the Cedar Point website and a poll on what you think they will build next year, with “Rollercoaster” clearly pwning “Thrill ride”, “Restaurant” and “Children’s area”. Then we have…

“Laboring over these 2010 plans is exhausting!”

and

“KD: 1 CW: 2 CP: 3 #fb”

The second is very interesting. Presuming KD stands of Kings Dominion and CW for Carrowinds (both parks in the chain) then theres two readings of this. Either it’s the order of their announcements of new coasters (KD have already done theres, CW coming up) or a tally of the number of B&M’s in each park. Cedar Point currently only have two B&M’s so does that indicate a third? However that’s bluntly contradicted by…

“Definitely NOT taking the Beemer out for a spin today. Or next year for that matter. #fb”

Can we really trust anything they say at this point? However that does seem like a stronger denial than the others – possibly to make sure fans aren’t set up for dissapointment? That’s all the Twitter messages, then we have the bizarre blog post saga. The well known Cedar Point blog posted an unusually formal and random message reminding people to check out the sponsers page, where a mysterious new organization called “Crystal Rock Bottling Company” had appeared, which no-one has heard of. That gives you a link to a seemingly made up advertisement for a new drink, “Whyte Lightning”, with a logo that bears a very strong resemblance to Millennium Forces upside down. “Lightning strikes twyce” might as well be a massive face winking teasingly at a Cedar Point fan.
Since then King's Dominion and Carowinds have both announced massive airtime machines. Also since then a Facebook update from Cedar Point read:
“CP is not building an “S&S, a B&M, a Grav. Group, a Mack, or a Gerstlauer”
This leaves out Intamin and Vekoma, and Vekoma just aren't... good enough for Cedar Point really. So place your guesses now.

My guess is an Intamin AquaTrax or an Intamin MegaSplash (Pilgrim's Plunge at Holiday World). If I was pushed I'd go for the AquaTrax.

I think it could just be a standard flume ride to replace the old one... But I would love to see an Aquatrax!

There is only 1 in the world but they look great.

However my bet is with either an Intamin Supersplash or Spillwater ride.
One last bit of info...it's not a coaster! Details at 9:10 a.m.
Well I guess that rules out the Aquatrax. I might now go for a modern, extremely well-themed log flume with reverser sections. Except they ruled out Mack, which would be the obvious choice. Hmmmmmmm...

[s:1abh2fl5]I'm going to put my neck out and say its a Vekoma...[/s:1abh2fl5]

This is why nobody should pay attention to my predictions! :P
