Ripsaw new gondola / restraints

Yesterday we were at the towers and after coming off blade I walked past ripsaw.

The gondola has been removed from the arms and is sat at the back on supports.

Unfortunately I didnt have my camera with me but the gondola looks different and the restraints now are metal and black padding not the old red restraints...

Could this be a new lease of life for Ripsaw...?

ripsaw hasn't had the red ones for a good few years now, could just be complete maintenance overhaul.

It has been confirmed on Alton Towers Twitter that they are waiting on a part to be delivered and that it will be back in operation soon enough

Maybe they have decided that as it needs work now anyway they will use the downtime to get it ready for it's move to x-sector. If SW8 is still going in forbidden valley in 2017 then It would be moving at the end of this season so why not take this opertunity to save themselves a bit of work at the end of the season.
