Exactly - you can get by without knowing any German, but best to know the very basics.

Europa don't market to UK tourists (they don't really need to) so have very few visitors from here - but accept that English is a universal language so relevant signs, park maps etc can be found.

Just spotted some new concept art for Rulantica, which shows one of the water parks themed areas, "Troll Valley".

And some more concept art for another area of Rulantica called "Glacier Temple". :)

Do you speak any French? Most employees speak German and French as Europa Park is right next to the border.

I recommend learning hello, thanks, goodbye and numbers 0-10. That should be enough but really, you'll be fine.

Hi.

Just a quick question, is there a site anyone knows of where you can get packages for Europa Park? Been looking and cant find any thing for packages!!! If it needs to be booked individually, has anyone got any good tips for hotels etc? Looking at going next April so plenty of time to plan if need be.

Just back from Pleasure Beach yesterday and away to Euro Disney in October which is already planned to a degree.

Thanks in advance.

Never heard of any packages from the UK there. Unlike Port Aventura and Disney, they don't particularly market to us.

[BREAKING] Massive Fire at Europa Park

A massive fire has broken out at the worlds best theme park, Europa Park.

The German theme park Europa-Park has been hit by a giant fire. This can be seen on images on social media.

The fire broke out at the darkride Pirates in Batavia in the Dutch theme area. Visitors to the official Europa-Park app are invited to leave and avoid the neighboring Scandinavian theme section as quickly as possible.

It is not yet known whether there have been casualties.

More later.

Reports on social media suggest that the park is currently in the process of being completely evacuated.

I’ve just seen this, terrible images :(

I really hope there are no injuries as a result of this, hopefully the source of the fire wasn’t in an area of the ride that was occupied by guests.

Update

Europa Park have confirmed that the fire did start in the Pirates in Batavia dark ride, however it appears to have spread pretty quickly into the nearby areas.

I've just seen this news and really hope that everyone is ok and there aren't any serious casulties.

Pirates in Batavia is going to be a huge loss for the park, judging by the images that have been published so far the fire looks quite substantial and I'd be surprised if there is much of the ride left :( Not only will the park have lost one of their largest dark rides, but the ride also had a restaurant incorporated into it so that will almost certainly have been lost too.

This is very very serious. Pirates in Batavia is gone, for sure. I just really hope they evacuated in time. :(

Gosh, those are awful pictures - sad to see something like this happen at such a great park and I hope no-one's been hurt.

Update

EuropaStreet are reporting that the fire is looking more under control. They are also reporting that other rides on the park are still operating as normal, and only the area immediately surrounding the fire was evacuated. Picture from EuropaStreet.

Edit: This video that has been posted on Twitter shows an aerial view of the fire.

Statement from the park via Twitter:

Dear visitors, a fire is currently underway in the attraction "Piraten von Batavia". We ask you to avoid the Scandinavian district.

Our response teams and firefighters are on hand to control the fire. Please avoid the area and follow the instructions of our teams. We will keep you informed quickly on this Twitter account.

The Scandinavian district has been entirely evacuated. Emergency teams are on site and actively working to prevent the spread of fire.

Michael Mack has just confirmed on Twitter that the park have lost Piraten von Batavia and Norway completely, but so far no one has been hurt. Whilst this undoubtedly a huge loss for Europa, the main thing is that there doesn't seem to have been any injuries.

Good to hear no one has been hurt. The fire looked intense:
