Why can't the UK build a ride like this? Anyone got a rough idea of the cost of visiting Europa Park this June/July?

Construction Update: 1.12.12

With Hotel Bell Rock due to open on 11th July, work is continuing apace to ensure it is ready! Some of the rooms are already being furnished and exterior pictures have been taken on the Chris Space site - here is a selection of them:

Worried that turn might be a bit of a dead-spot...
AstroDan

Doesn't really matter. You'll be doing at least 50mph at that point anyway, and the train will be increasingly banked as it then dips under Blue Fire. That corner is also providing a border to the entrance plaza for the ride, so a lot of people will be able to watch it.

Every coaster has a dead spot - even Expedition Ge Force's boring middle helixes.

Every coaster?

Even El Toro?

Maybe not but I am sure you get what i am saying. 99%.

I have said all along Wodan is not the next Troy. I do not expect it to be as good as Troy. It will be aswesome, but no Troy. That corner will be absolutely FINE and perfectly enjoyable as part of the ride.

Major Construction Update: 7.2.12

EPFans have today presented a major update for construction of Wodan, which shows off a number of features!

Some new facts have emerged:

- "Nidhogg Dragon" and "Fountain of Wisdom" are two queueline features.
- There will be a queueline kiosk (similar to Blue Fire, Fjord Rafting, Log Flume etc.) for light refreshment.
- There will be toilets integrated within the ride queueline (I haven't heard of this much before!)

The queue will hold up to 2 1/2 hours if i recall correctly (when it's entirely full). The Blue Fire queue can also hold around this, I believe - when full. I think they are now beyond those days when they made the internal queueline short, and then just extend with temporary stretch fencing outside (like Eurosat and Silver Star) - as it doesn't give a great impression and just looks messy. So now, they have enough extensions inside the ride queue area.

The throughput for this coaster will be longer than Blue Fire and Silver Star though - especially in opening year. I remember waiting 80 minutes for Blue Fire on opening weekend in 2009, and this will have a throughput which I would estimate at around 20% lower than Blue Fire.

Hmmm. :-k Methinks that after the initial ride to get the credit, it might be a good time for some Mir / Sat / Silvia whoreage

Maybe it will be...

And so, everything's starting to come together! Fantastic update there, with some real progress being made - yay for track laying!!

Not long now, folks!!

I simply don't think I have ever seen anything as stunning in terms of a coaster in all my life! This thing is absolutely beautiful, words can barely even describe! The theming is just top notch, it has to be some of the best out there, the attention to detail is just fabulous!

It would appear that the whole area, in true Europa Park fashion, does not falter in terms of an immersive experience, not a single detail has gone unnoticed. Now that really is saying something to say that it is still covered in scaffolding and only part way to being totally finished. But boy, once it is, it will look just amazing and will no doubt have a fantastic piece of Europa Park theme music, just to put the icing on the cake!

Roll on the 1st of April I say!

But Blue Fire started with only one train and increased the throughput during its first season. You can't compare todays Blue Fire throughput with that from its early days.

:D

:-/ As far as I am aware, Blue Fire never operated with just one train - we went for the opening weekend in 2009 and they were running at least two! I recall the fourth and fifth trains being delivered in August 2009 when we were (again!) on park.
