Although the wording of the article seems a bit odd
"After all the confusion and all the secrecy behind the closure of Cleethorpes Pleasure Island, In2town Grimsby News can now informed residents that the popular tourist attraction could not be open within weeks after we have learned that the manager director of Pleasure Island and Flamingo Land is currently in discussions to take over Pleasure Island breaking away from the family business."
I did wonder earlier in the year why the season pass for Flamingoland did not cover Pleasure Island in 2010 like it did in 2009.

Bravo Morwenna! They've really come good here. Everyone's a winner. Alton Towers are now the good samaritans of the theme park world, and they should get a few (not many though probably) more through the gates. Genius!

I hope that Merlin buys the park but i highly doubt this will happen 
. Even though rides can be taken to different theme parks, its sad to see that piece of land go, because no new theme parks are opening so when one closes it reduces the amount.

Nice to see a bit of positive publicity. An AT season pass for £39, can't be bad can it. Just a shame most Pleasure Island AP holders will probably live some distance from Alton.

The website is back online and online booking system is working!
The booking system was taken down about 2 week ago then the website went down.
just checking the system and the park re opens on the 1st May!

I went last week for the very first time, Mainly to ride Boomarang.
I must say its a nice little park a bit like the American Adventrue (towards the end). They have a few pretty good rides but its mostly a family park. I was expecting there to be big ques for Boomarang but I dont think it ran with a full train all day! I fact I was able to ride it, walk round and get back on again! The main reason for the trip was for me to ride Boomarang, Ive always liked the ride from the days of the Missile at AA (I know the missile isnt boomarang).
We had a good day before heading off to Fantasy Island to ride their 2 coasters

This will be the first ride under the new ownership and not under Flamingoland. Should be interesting to see what their first move is. Do you know what the finances are like of the new ownership Adz?
My bet would be a Mack Twist 'n' Splash.

Not much to spend on a new ride really i'd imagine, they had around 40,00-100,000 guests this year.

Got the 2011 Park Map in the post this morning. New for 2011 is 'Aquasphere- how fast can you run on water?' It's one of those attractions where you run on water in a see through inflatable ball, so unfortunately not a log flume! It's located next to the Astra Slide.
Also new is Professor Tinkaboo's Magic Factory Show, replacing the Time Machine show.
What is interesting is that the park is open late on July 30th for a Carnival party night, with the rides open until 9pm, then again for a Fireworks night on November 5th with rides running in the dark.
Also open for selected dates in December with a Christmas grotto.
The leaflet design is the same as previous years but with a purple colour scheme.

From what I've heard of how the park's changing now from not being under the Flamingo Land umbrella, it looks like the park is making good decisions. Sure, the new 'water ride' they're installing isn't fabulous, but they've made a big change to events through the year. I'd certainly like to see what's in store for the July 30th Carnival Party and hope that this will give enough support and money towards a new permanent ride. I say, well done Pleasure Island (you're certainly better than another 'island' park in that area) 
Screw the entrance fee, I have an annual pass!

There's a blues music festival coming up as well as some semi-famous bands throughout the year. I think director Melanie Wood is trying to push the park's profile in many directions. They have very limited funds but her attitude seems to be spot on and I wish her every success.

For those of you who don't know, PI opened for 1 day in feb half and despite bad weather, around 500 people turned up, which is around what the park gets on a September weekend, so it looks like this could be a busy year for the park. Also £35,000 has been spent over the closed season on renovating/re painted the park, so it should look good as well.
