Is Camelot staying open now then? or is it just staying opn for a couple more years? I heard it was closing within 5 years
A company bought it, hoping to close it and build new houses along with other features. However, our council (which is firstly the little council of Heskin, then Chorley, and finally Lancashire) Will not grant them planning permission to do so. They instead had to open to park in order to make some kind of income. Now it's been announced that they are to employ possibly 200 more staff (On the local radio a few weeks ago). I think they intend to expand as it is evident after years and years of failed planning permission attempts that they won't get it. I expect it shall close from bankruptcy instead. The hotel on site does well though.

Camelot has potential written all over it. Some of the theming is very good (mainly around the entrance) and they have at least one really decent ride. Plus, their shows make anything that Towers have done in the last five years look very ordinary. Planning permission and budgets will be the death of the place though.

indeed. the invesment will never come now as its owned by estate agents. they will just make it last as long as possible on the smallest budget. Id be suprised if we get a touring flat in there over next few years nevermind a permanent flat.

When I say another American Adventure I mean the way it fell apart! AA was my local park untill I moved up north a couple of years ago...I know all the history of AA and Camelot (owners ect) Its just sad when you see small parks going this way!

Ive been doing some digging on the net and found the half season they were open (after the rescue package) last season they did pretty well, Seems a long time ago since they were getting 500,000 (their peak) have no idea how they did this year though. I found a good write up saying even though they did ok this season they will be closing in september while most parks wait until the Oct half term...The reason was they didnt expect to get many (if any) people through the door between sept and Oct half term so it would be cheaper to close early, So I can understand their point of view

Nice website for such a dire park. Love the banner at the top, which shows Knightmare (is this an indication to show that it HASN'T been sold?)

A robbery has taken place at Camelot theme park in Lancashire, just three months following a previous raid.

Thieves broke into a garage at the Chorley site on Saturday, taking an adapted milk float which was used to haul £4,000 worth of equipment across the park.

Items taken were reported to be a laptop computer, CCTV equipment, a power washer and other tools.

The raid follows a previous break-in at the site in July, when £1,000 worth of cash was taken from one of the park’s amusement arcades.

Poor Camelot. First they had the accident on Excalibur, now this. It's just gone from bad to worse. I think the will be lucky if they make it into 2012 at this rate...

I thought it was important to add the line at the bottom stating it's the second break-in in just a few months. It's quite sad and alarming the state the place is in. Hopefully they will step up security.

And nothing of value was lost...

Personally, Camelot is quite frankly a lost cause, in it's current state it isn't going to survive anyways, and needs some actual strong investment (that doesn't mind not being in profit for a few years) to get it up to even Lightwater Valley standards...

Just reminds me of the string of burglary incidents that took place at AA in its dying years.

Looking from where that picture was taken it looks like the back of the park. I haven't been since Knightmare opened but I guess there got room on the park to add a few funfair rides. As I heard the Rack gone and the coaster that use to be indoors before it got burned down.
