When I am Imperial Overlord of the World, I will see to it that themeparks are exempt from planning laws.
Anyone who even thinks about complaining will be shot without trial.

Don't worry, visiting themeparks will be a basic human right... and free to anyone over twelve. Under 12's will cost £17,000 per brat, per hour!
12yos will be allowed in under escort on a trial basis!
And don't worry, there will be no chavs anywhere on the planet!

This is sad - i just dont understand why they didn't seek planning permission before building them though.

I don't doubt they did it because they knew someone would kick up a stink about it all. I reckon they probably thought it would go unnoticed by the council. But no no no. Some prats come along and spoil it all
12yos will be allowed in under escort on a trial basis!

That, and if family go with you on a visit they must remain at least 25 metres away from me (or at home and go by themselves). I hate it when they follow me like that. They do it all the time at AT for fear of getting lost :P . Usually you can ditch them but still...

Paultons have won the right to keep Cobra, the [s:d44m8kdw]Mack coaster.[/s:d44m8kdw] Gerstlauer Bobsled!
Unfortunately the only news source covering the event, the Southern Daily Echo local newspaper, is down at the moment. Here is the brief snippet from Google News:

Aren't Chessington due to get a ride the same style as The Edge? If so and Paultons are having to rid theirs, could it be the same one? I know Merlin wouldn't really buy second hand, but it's nearly new, and they'd probably get it at a cut price compaired to a new one.
Paultons Park gets approval for Cobra
12:27pm Tuesday 15th December 2009
A HAMPSHIRE theme park has today won the right to keep one of its controversial roller coasters.
Paultons Park lost a battle earlier this year to retain the Cobra and Edge rides after it was revealed they were installed without planning permission.
But this morning the Ower-based amusement park was given the green light to keep one of the multi-million pound attractions.
It means the 18-meter high Cobra, complete with its control building, catering kiosk and photography booth, can stay put.
A joint application to retain the two rides was thrown out in October.
Members of New Forest National Park Authority's Planning Control Committee were told that neighbours had complained about the noise of screaming children.
However, a separate application - solely to retain the Cobra - was approved this morning at the NPA's head quarters near Lymington.

So does this mean they will have to move The Edge? It could be worse... it's the simpler of the two to shift.

Or will they be able to file a separate application for Edge?

As expected no new rides for Paultons this year while the battle to save "The Edge" is still going on but this year the park see's the launch of a new park logo.
Paultons are currently asking the fans to help support "The Edge" by clicking here:
http://www.paultonspark.co.uk/info/savetheedge.html
and it looks like construction for their new attraction for 2011 has already started which can only be good news.
