Got to admit, that sounds amazing! Really looking forward to hearing more about it later this year, could be very exciting indeed. You'd imagine it would be Intamin but they don't seem to do loads of vertical loops so it could be Mack. Though for a pure thrill ride which I'm sure this will be, Intamin seems the best choice.

If it's an Intamin, Then I reckon it would be similar to something like Cheetah Hunt, and if it's a Mack, it will obviously be similar to Blue Fire, but who knows. :P
But excellent news for Magic Mountain, I defiantly prefer them to Cedar Point and they have some awesome coasters, hopefully this another excellent addition to park's line up. I also hope their's some decent themeing on this coaster as well.

I've heard that Magic Mountain's rides have decent theming, for example Apocalypse, Tatsu and Viper have decent themeing and the likes of Batman, Superman, Riddler and Green Lantern also have quite good themeing. That's what I've seen and heard anywayRitadz wrote:Well, this is a Six Flags park...SpinballEdders wrote: I also hope their's some decent themeing on this coaster as well.

I don't see why Intamin are the best choice for a pure thrill ride.
I think you're only saying that because there's only currently two Mack launch coasters and they both happen to be family thrill. I see no reason why Mack couldn't build one just as intense as an Intamin, and the Mack ride system is simply vastly better and more comfortable!

I've been to Magic Mountain. The only two of the above that have decent theming are Apocalypse and Batman. The rest are effectively themeless.SpinballEdders wrote: I've heard that Magic Mountain's rides have decent theming, for example Apocalypse, Tatsu and Viper have decent themeing and the likes of Batman, Superman, Riddler and Green Lantern also have quite good themeing. I think mack could easily pull off a high-thrill version of blue fire! It's not like all of Intamins launches are particularly thrilling. Cheetah Hunt was tame even for a family-thrill, kind of a steady amble across the park.

Six Flags Great Adventure also has some really nice theming. Not on the same level as parks like Europa and Busch but some of the rides have theming that you may not expect from a Six Flags park. I think Cedar Fair parks tend to be worse when it comes to theming; Kings Dominion's theming is restricted to Back Lot Stunt Coaster, the Congo area of the park, and well, that's about it!SpinballEdders wrote:I've heard that Magic Mountain's rides have decent theming, for example Apocalypse, Tatsu and Viper have decent themeing and the likes of Batman, Superman, Riddler and Green Lantern also have quite good themeing. I suppose I did say that because Mack are yet to do an out and out thrill coaster. Apart from the vertical loop though this does sound very Intamin. Intamin are really into their ground hugging coasters right now and Six Flags may want a manufacturer that have a track record of building thrill coasters for this. I'm sure Mack would do a good job also, it just sounds very Intamin to me.Sam wrote: I don't see why Intamin are the best choice for a pure thrill ride.

I can’t imagine Mack being chosen by Six Flags. On the other hand the description of the tallest loop sounds much more like Mack than Intamin. I can only think of one of Intamin’s launch coasters with a loop (Kanonen) and it’s not a very big one.
This should be interesting.

You never know, it could be Vekoma. After all, our very own Jubilee Odyssey has the joint fourth highest loop in the world according to wikipedia. While at 'only' 105 feet, Blue Fire doesn't even feature in the top ten.
That list is fundamentally flawed as it doesn't even mention SFMM's Viper, which has the second tallest loop at 144ft. Ignore it!
So Blue Fire is even further down the list then? :P
I don't think Viper counts, as it's just a tiny RCT style loop at the top of a huge hill.

Small loops are best!

Agreed about small loops, you could say the same about Rev's loop at Blackpool.
Blue Fire's loop is a bit of a non-event. :P

Apart from being beautiful and hanging in the harness!

I'd say Blue Fire's loop is good for different reasons, like those stated above.
But for an intense coaster a smaller loop definitely packs more of a punch. I think this is why Intamin don't tend to build standard loops. A loop on such a large scale needs to do something else to add another dynamic into the mix rather than relying on the force alone.

(Before it was quickly pulled…) Well, it looks like they are still serious about that name as Six Flags has just filed for the trademark use to use the name ‘Full Throttle’ for a theme park ride on April 4th, 2012.

New update from Screamscape regarding Full Throttle-
http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_fla ... untain.htm
I didn't even know about this ride until I checked it out this morning, sounds pretty amazing. And yet another roller coaster at SFMM!
I have to get myself out there next year!

Oh good lord, Screamscape has just posted via twitter a direct link to the full ride video for Full Throttle.
Not only does it feature three launches (one backwards, two forwards), it has the worlds largest loop and a top hat attached to the frickin loop!
Tickets for SFMM will be booked shortly!
