Is it a launch up the hill, or a mid-course launch ? Sounds very, very interesting. Saw looks rubbish compared to this.
In answer to your question there will be a mid course launch. O-62.1 in 1.4 seconds =P~ . The ride looks outstanding I am sure many of us will be wanting to head out to Germany sometime due to all the ausome looking new additions that have been installed for this year Fluch Von Novgorod, Blue Fire........
I think the station will be heavily themed like Saw without the puzzle part. This will be even better because this will be heavily themed all the way through the ride. This will be the best Eurofighter yet.

What Hansa-Park does here is outstanding and very surprising as the park has 1.1 Million visitors per season = not THAT large.
Here the official artwork of the ride (not too convincing) http://www.hansapark.de/pdf/prospekte/tn_grp.jpg
The coaster's microsite http://www.kataplektor.de is unfortunately only in German but features a very cool game when you click on that book at the very left. NOW there is the ride's own youtube-site (cool move for such a small park!) offering the two storyline videos out of the interactive book in ENGLISH!

Go and see! To me it has a scarier feeling to it than the plain horror-shock-marketing that Thorpe raises attention with.
The story will be very complex and so will the queue and station. Imagine that the ride will take guests through 3 tower structures of which one features the SAW/Speed-like vertical chain lift and beyond-vertical drop in total darkness. It sneaked through that there will be a soundtrack and special effects like projections and (not confirmed) even fire!
Hansa-Park suddenly seems to be on the move. Last year they have attached a beautiful seaside bungalow park with direct access to the park and over 3 years now the entire entrance area will be re-themed in an extremely high quality level.
Till now Hansa-Park was always considered as the "family" alternative to the "thrilling" Heide-Park. But this for sure is to change as they have taken over being THE theme park of northern Germany.
Did you know that Hansa-Park used to be a Legoland? It didn't work there and became Hansaland and later - due to a re-naming - Hansa-Park. :!:
TWO BIG THUMBS up for such a new ride which beats the attitude of low-themed-thrills as crowd pleasers and marketing hits. YAY!

I thought that video was going to be in English?
It's a German park, so there'd be little point having English teasers if the majority of the guests at the park are German.
On the youtube site they are in English and German (Not that all the english makes sense)
Just look at the titles:
Curse of Novgorod - English Teaser
Fluch von Novgorod - German Teaser

Thanks^ - it looks a really good ride, however the theming does not look as good as i thought it would be the towers seem very bare inside.

^Well considering that it is a small park it was likely that the ride would not turn out as good as you would of thought. They probably reached the end of their budget and just could not afford to carry on the theming inside the towers. However the dark section before the pre-drop and launch seems well themed and I can imagine that the queue is as well. It still looks like a good ride but would have been better if it had a bigger budget. Perhaps they will add to the towers in the future. The launch looks pretty insane, hopefully the ride has no dodgy jolts like Saw does. :P

Sounds very very interesting. The description really seems to promise a dark ride section to this, or an indoor coaster. It'd be a very elaborate theme for it not to have a dark ride section.New for 2011: The Snake of Midgard - Get ready for the Family Adventure 2011
After launching the “Curse of Novgorod” HANSA-PARK will greet its guests in the 2011 season with yet another roller coaster challenge. The new attraction will carry riders off into the legendary world of the Vikings.
Once more the park presents a coaster that is wrapped in an exciting story: two children, the Viking boy Einar and his older sister Elin of the Viking settlement of Hedeby, sneak into the shed of a famous Nordic storyteller. In the shed there is a legendary dragon boat which they are familiar with from the poet’s stories. The poet always talked of seafaring and the many adventures he allegedly had on board the ship, of his trade trips to the Varangians, of coming face to face with Norwegian pirates, of his trips to Greenland and his journey to the end of the world and the snake of Midgard. Suddenly people are approaching and the children hide in one of the sea boxes on the dragon boat. And all of a sudden, the magic ship starts to move...
The new attraction will be the theme park’s sixth coaster and can be enjoyed by anyone taller than 1 meter.
Not only that but they're expanding what sounds like their version of Miniland:
Germany, the new theme park capital of the world?New for 2011: Our Theme World “The HANSEATIC LEAGUE in EUROPE” is expanding - Bruges, Groningen and Paris
In the 2011 season, our unique theme world “The HANSEATIC LEAGUE in EUROPE” will continue to expand with a large addition: the Belgian Hanseatic city of Bruges, an exceptionally impressive place, will get another edifice constructed with an eye to detail. Furthermore, the Dutch Hanseatic city of Groningen will be featured. After that our theme world will move to France and present its capital Paris with not one but two historical buildings.
Be a part of the ongoing development and watch the theme world’s buildings, reconstructed down to the very last detail using the best traditional craftsmanship, symbolise our name “HANSA-PARK” a bit more every year.
As HANSA-PARK had to face substantial delays due to poor weather conditions in the winter term of 2009/2010, we are sure we will meet your understanding that HANSA-PARK is currently not able to provide a completion date for its new attraction.
Sorry if this has been covered in another topic, but I can't find it in a search and new info has come out anyway.
I saw this a few weeks back. Looks good. Flies in the face of everything John Wardley says about "story based attractions". And do you know what, I totally disagree with Wardley's assessment! Fluch von Novgorod looks far better than something like Th13teen in all honesty and I bet it cost a similar amount of money.
Can't wait for this, it's near Heide Park too! Bring on 2011!

Once again, Hansa-Park setting the standard with another Novgorod style story teaser for next years new family ride:
Die Schlange von Midgard
Although unable to understand the majority, credit where credit is due quite honestly!

Some construction photos, from Hansa Park's website (more photos there):
Concept art:
Hansa seem to be quite into enclosing their lift hills.
I must say, the theming looks like it's going to be top notch. Accompanied with a fantastic bit of story telling - this should be a superb little family ride.

Hansa-Park have confirmed (today) that "Die Schlange von Midgard" will open on Friday together with the rest of the park, although some theming elements maybe unfinished. It is frankly a suprise it is ready as it is, after the delays caused by weather.
You an view a brand new trailer for this story based kiddie coaster here (w English subtitles)
New images are also available, showing the incredibly detailed theming and train here
The park now boast two themed story based coasters after Fluch von Novgorod opened in 2009.

...sorta looks like a kiddy version of this...
Looks awesome though, especially for a family coaster.
