More scenery sets, and pre built buildings or the option to pre build or custom like with the pre built tracks. Also I preferred it in RCT2 when you built a ride it had the scenery with it you didn't have to import it with another process. Have pre-built theme parks like Alton Towers & Thorpe Park (like with Six Flags on RCT2) sort out the horrific graphics on the flat rides, I hated the way they look with the multiple squares in different colours it looks fairgroundy. On the platform better scenery and platforms with gates and be able to create a ride soundtrack.

IGN have had a page up for RCT4 since atari posted for ideas on the official atari forums last august.

However all the signs would indicate that RCT is coming, with the post last summer, the comment in their financial statement and the comment on their face book page (dated 15th May) when someone asked if there would ever be a RCT4 and atari posted back saying i think you will be very happy soon.

I would expect an anouncement very soon.

I don't know why, but I've got a feeling we could see this announcement in the coming weeks, maybe with a release date around EAS or IAAPA.

Indeed, this is the link to the consolidated results that I posted, the piece that I quoted can be found on page 5.

Now this goes out to shareholders aswell as other people and the public, and there is no way they are going to alienate and lie too their shareholders. So if it says they are going to continue to support the name in their (which is does) then its pretty much set in stone that they are, which is even better news for us :D

There is further evidence that RCT4 might be coming soon, in a new artcle on the offcial atari page about atari developing old classics for iphone etc is the following bit of info

'To adjust to its new business model, Atari has slashed the development costs of its games. While packaged games could cost $5 million to $10 million or more to develop, it is working with a fraction of that. Mobile casual games tend to be made with budgets of $50,000 to $600,000.

In addition to reviving older titles, Atari is also continuing to keep a selective number of newer franchises such as "Roller Coaster Tycoon," a theme-park management game, and developing new games such as "I Love Strawberries iOS", a puzzle game for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. Mr. Wilson said all of its recent efforts have been profitable or have broken even'

Plus

'Mr. Wilson estimated digital-games business now accounts for about 30% of Atari's overall revenue, as it reduced the traditional packaged-games business to about 50% of its total from 90% three years ago. The remainder of its revenue comes from licensing'

So Atari are moving into Mobile Phone/Tablet games but 50% of their business will still come from tardional boxed games and Roller Coaster Tycoon is mention specifically. If their were no further plans to develop the francise further this wouldnt have been mentioned.

I don't know whether to read that as Rollercoaster Tycoon is an old game being introduced to mobile gaming, or if they are bringing it out as a PC game.

Hopefully it's the latter! [-o<

I think it reads that atari in the past 90% of their products where traditional boxed games, now they moving to mobile gaming which much cheaper to devlop so less risk if they don't sell and this will account for 50% of their business with another 50% on boxed games and will continue to support roller coaster tycoon.

It would never work as a mobile or iPad game try EA tried sim city and the sims and both those were poor.

This is a good move seeing as Atari are not in the best financial state at the moment, which seems to be from mis managment and CEO's who do not have a clue about game development.

But, they know RCT is one of their strong brands, it has been a popular selling game since the brand was first created and still continued to sell well when Atari got hold of the rights.

Atari have updated thair official facebook page today with-

'Hey Guys, a lot of you have been asking about the Roller Coaster Tycoon franchise… I assure you we are as passionate about the franchise as you are, and as soon as we have news to share, you guys will be the first to know!'

I think thats in response to the number of people posting on their facebook page asking about RCT4 on a daily basis. It will only be a matter of time now before RCT4 is announced. You can see the post below-

That's pretty much confirmation that RCT4 is definitely in the works as it does absolutely nothing to squash the rumours, in fact, it just adds more fuel to the fire.

Things we NEED.
-Hotels, so guests can stay over night. But not just a ready made hotel you should be able to create the resort.
-Speaking of over night. We need to park to close at night, you can choose the parks opening and closing times. but it doesn't take any effect on RCT3.
-Paths that aren't a single block. we need it so you can spray paths like you can terrain.
-We need high restrictions. it annoys me when i see a 5 year old on my 10 loop roller coaster.
-Also, more of the interactive ride effects. LOADS MORE!
-Seasons, we need this. sun shining all day in December is really annoying.
-More realistic time, not this 3 years to on real hour thing. there should be a slider to control this.
-Horror houses! Halloween decorations. You should be able to cover the ride in cobwebs when October rolls around. it would be so good! BUILDING YOUR OWN HORROR MAZE WOULD BE EPIC.
-Christmas! Possibilities are endless.
-More building tools. Better & much more walls, floors & decoration.
-Get rid of the tile thing. i hate it when a object takes up 2x3 and you can't get them closer to the path!
-Spray paints like on ModNation racers. when making a forest i want to spray it on not sit there placing every tree one by one.
-Shops and Restraunts that take up more than 1x1 tile. i want to make a shopping street! Not a fun fair hot dog stand.
-Multiple parks connect by the same company. Parks that co exist, and constantly make money while your on other parks. Like Disney or Six Flags.
-Auto terrain! so i don't have to sit there making it so i don't have a perfectly flat field!
-Better entrance gates! These ones are so dull..
-Play as a peep! Walk round your park, I WANT THIS SO MUCH!
-Onnline mode would kick ass. Go to and rate other peoples parks, onnline! Help them create there park or something! The possibilities of this are endless.
-Events! Music concerts, Seasonal attractions, Movie related rides, Movie props, Customer demand (such as families want child swap near rides or something.
-Escalators! That would be great, be rather fun :D
-Better Pools! There so bad on RCT3, lakes should be co-opirated.
-World landmarks, like in Disney epricot... <--?
-A world map and you could choose were your parks are... I don't know if it would work but.

Sorry but a Christmas release is already out of the question! :P

Look at all the games that have only just been announced, all of them are late 2012 or 2013 release dates.

It'll be around this time the pre-ordering offers will be starting not the first official announcement.

Perhaps Christmas next year if your lucky and they announce it soon, but Christmas this year? No chance what so ever.

What will come first Half Life 3 or RCT4? :P

Tbh, there's only a few things I want from the new one...

- Random Terrain (So it will give you a random layout every time you click a button with hills, lakes, etc.)
- Snow (For stories to cover the park in snow during closed season)
- All the new rollercoasters from around the world
- Transfer all the CS over from RCT3
- Much slower time periods
- Diagonal features for rides, scenery, etc.
- A RCT4 website with constant additional downloable content such as rides, scenery, etc. (similar to Sims 3)

I think that's pretty much it :? Just things to make the game a little easier and more realistic really :) and bang up to date, with the possibility to update your RCT4 when they release updates with new rollercoasters :)
fredward

I think an easy way to transfer scenery from RCT3 is a must, or at least convert it to a suitable file, then transfer.

But I don't want an incident where RCT4 will have an awful dated buggy and laggy engine, just so we can happily use all our old RCT3 files.

Mod support is a must. With official modding tools on release, not rely on the community to pretty much hack the game to create their own!

I remember a year or so ago (probably more now I think about it!) the Atari community was saying they would never get CTR and custom cars and whenever someone mentioned Custom track, they were laughed at.

Then someone figured out how.

Do we really want to wait till 6 or so years after release in order to make Custom cars? Custom track rides are yet to be fully created. I can only think of 2 which have been made. Imagineer Johns Th13teen track which wasn't released to public. and Rev ride crews Invisible track. Which required a lot of work and a lot of time to create... and that didn't include inversions, really special elements or even a track model!

Official Mod support for Custom scenery, Custom Cars, Custom flat rides, Custom tracks, Custom stalls, paths ext. please and the lack of transferring old files will not be as bad.

Here's the main things id like to see on RCT4! :

1. Ride station platforms actually look realistic with gates, control rooms, staff checking restraints etc.

2. Be able to build hotels, at the mo you can build a hotel but it's just a shell

3. Be able to build restaurants, not just the food stands.

4. Peeps actually queue, e.g. a ride can get 2hrs queue etc.

5. Real entrance turnstyles and ticket booths

6. Seasonal decorations e.g halloween, christmas, easter

7. More track pieces for coasters but don't make it too hard to play

8. Make things look realistic, e.g coaster supports, flume channels.

9. Be able to walk around your parks and decide what to go on, where to eat - a little like sims but in your park.

1o. Have a wide range of rides and attractions from around the world already made to choose from e.g the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, TH13TEEN, Nemesis etc.

11. Have the choice to add pre-shows and safety vids onto rides.

:D If this comes out I will be in heaven!...
