Another example is their new Driving School also opening this year in the China area. It appears to be very generic and not inkeeping with the China theme at all.

It's a big shame Universal sold the park because they would never let it go this way if it was under their ownership.

R.I.P. beauty

It does seem against the original PortA ideals, but this will easily be the best coaster in the park and given they have three which I dislike, its a step in the right direction.

I like it!

Aside from the concerns about the ride not matching the setup of the parks original ideals, this looks like such a fantastic investment.

Oh come on! It's not like they plonked an ugly orange and green monstrosity infront of an historic listed building.

I have to agree! Ok it may ruin a little of Khan's beauty but this is a massive B&M Mega coaster so to be honest, who cares! It looks awesome and they had to put it somewhere in the park. Compromises have to be made sometimes.

I really like the logo also.

I hope the queue is a little Expedition Everest. PortAventura generally do not theme their queues/stations much at all, so hopefully this will be a departure for them.

I don't like the ride much but that logo is awesome.

The ride will be awesome I am sure and have amazing theming along with good landscaping. The logo seems good as well. I think it will easily become the best coaster at PortAventura and one of the top in Europe too.

However, from a visual perspective it does pretty much ruin China.

I think it is just an unfortunate compromise.

Yeah the new skyline picture on the previous page has turned my Nightmares :/ Dragon Khan is just ruined now! IT look magnificent before, now its just belittled and looks tame :/ How could they!!!! Looks a good ride but it just looks wrong!  :sadblink:

Just loved the image of Dragon Khan on top of the hill, now it's just overpowered and doesn't look as overwhelming compared to Shambhala :/ Don't get me wrong Shambhala looks amazing but two rides that are as important as those should not cross or belittle the other. I know Nemesis and Air have been placed in the same place but they still have their own space and isn't overwhelmed by the other. Its a shame really!

I have to say, I kind of agree that the China skyline has been kind of ruined. Shambhala looks a great ride but Khan on top of the hill just looked in the perfect place, and this ride has completely broken the overall image.

Is Shambhala part of a new theme area?

I am not sure where it fits in.

I have a feeling it is in a new area of its own, think I read it somewhere :) Not completely sure though :)

I suppose that the Himalayas are Nepal/China, which would sort of fit in with the China theme. But then the China area seemed to me more like Imperial China, rather than near the Himalayas, so it may as well be two completely different areas.

Confirmed: Shambhala will be in the 'China' area of the theme park and not have an area of it's own.

It'll be interesting to see how they join these two rather contrasting themes (visually) into one.
AstroDan

Is it meant to be an expedition from China to Nepal, then?

I really don't know what the problem is to be honest, it adds even more to the already fantastic Port Aventura skyline.
