Do not change the ultimate! I will despise lwv management for ever if they do any big changes to the ultimate.

It requires new trains fairly soon. The welds on their chassis take immense stress, and I'm sure the heavily banked track sections will as well. The inspection and repair budget set aside each year will be very high - but they will rightly feel that it is their biggest draw and can't be without it.

Surprised you haven't mentioned the new project that the park has given you on VM, that's probably right up the street of the TTFer's...

This whole thing leaves me feeling uneasy. On the ground - the theming is fab. Just a shame they don't seem to have done enough to their Traum Boat... really needs some netting or something over it.

I guess you can only polish a turd so much.

2011 TV advert.

Surprised that you don't see Le Ultimato or Skeleton Cove until near the end!

It's a pretty good ad really. Attention grabbing, and informs the viewer of everything they need to know. I like it. :)

I dont like it I'm afraid.

It looks too amaturish and not enough money spent on it. I know Lightwater have this 'small park, pally with the fans' thing going on, but in their marketing they need to look far more professional. When people visit a park or buy a product etc they assoiciate themselves with the product, especially when they tell their mates/colleagues what they did at the weekend (which is what a park needs people to do) so it needs to be something that people are willing to be associated with. This just looks like a student has done it, which is fine for a web viral (loved 'the fog' recently done) but when you spend so much on getting the tv spots it needs to be better.

Marketing is everything to a theme park and this ain't gona pull any more people in. Doesn't plug Skeleton cove enough either, that should be the main focus of the ad - the new attractions. Sorry LWV.

You are not going to get anying much more than that for a park that currently attracts under 400,000 guests per year, they simply dont have the money to spend more on producing the advert especially when you consider the costs of actual airtime.

I disagree. I think with their attendance figures static for a few years now (with a small rise last year), they are wanting to increase the number of new visitors. This will do that - it really shows how much of a full day out there is, with rides for all of the family shown. There's also a good focus on the two main thrill flats, the good theming of Raptor Attack and most importantly a lot of Ultimate shots and finally making it widely known it's Europe's longest coaster. If I was a parent who took my family to Flamingo Land regularly and never gave LWV a thought as it's traditionally lagged behind, I'd certainly have a rethink. The advert shows how open and green the park is as well as having lots to do, which people would normally doubt.

It may not be the best we've seen but I'd say it's certainly a good advertisement for the park and should increase awareness of the ride lineup too.

Edit: Maelstrom is right - the park have a limited budget, especially now they've bought 7 rides and are creating a new themed area.

It's because of the voices that I'm hearing...

What makes the advert seem a little amateurish is the unnecessary voiceover; the park discussed sticking ride of the Valkyries (on its facebook page) as the background tune for Whirlwind - why the hell not this?

With it, and with words to a bare minimum, the advert wouldn't be far removed from the magnificent early nineties Alton ones. DOH!

You may say that they cannot afford it, but I would say that they can't afford not to spend more on it. The more you spend on marketing, the more you get back on your returns (if spent correctly). There is obviously a limit to how much marketing can affect things, but I don't think LWV have reached that yet and need to spend more.
There's also a good focus on the two main thrill flats, the good theming of Raptor Attack and most importantly a lot of Ultimate shots and finally making it widely known it's Europe's longest coaster.
I agree that I like this aspect of the ad. I don't know why, especially this year, AT don't have an add showing off their whole ride line up. I still think they should have had more focus on skeleton cove though, just a bit.
In terms of the quality of production, yes its not too bad, I wasn't trying to be too harsh, but it could be better, its not perfect.

If you put more focus on Skeleton Cove you would have to cut other aspects of the ad.

There's not a great deal more of Skeleton Cove they could show considering it was only half-finished when filming took place.

Remember, this is the Easter advert. There is the option to include new Skeleton Cove footage in the summer.
