While essentially I agree with you, you have to bare in mind that this is a beachfront attraction with very little space to play with, rather than some sprawling theme park. The way Adventure Island has developed over the last 5 years, especially in comparison to the likes of Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, should be commended.

I agree, and it is considerable how little space they have - but I ask... do they really need such a coaster? Could they not add something else?

Kiddie coasters are only of so much appeal. Not least when you have four of them...!

In fairness, I would call Mini-Manky-Munter a "family coaster", rather than a kiddy. But I totally agree, Dan. What AI need is something to bridge the [stupidly large] gap between MMM and Rage.

Yeah, perhaps a family-thrill flat would've made more sense, considering the lack of space and budget.

I know most of you probably won't want to venture south for this, but...

Haha more and more parks are realizing what LWV have, that being friendly to enthusiasts doesn't cost anything and can really help! I love how they've even put a little geeky joke about credits in. :P

Bravo to Adventure Island! I'd love to attend but as you say, it's probably too far south and the train fees would no doubt be astronomical. :(

Thanks for the invite though! :D

p.s. might wanna try CoasterForce, Yo Chessington! and Thorpe Park Mania. They have more southern members. ;)

CF and TPM have been invited.. I've never even heard of Yo Chessington.

Great stuff by Adventure Island, love the credit joke!

But there's no way I can go, sadly.

But who named that ride? Seriously, what the hell? [-X

That sounds like a great offer that I'd love to take advantage of, but I don't think I can make it that day.

I've never been to Southend as it's such a pain to get to, it would take something like 3 1/2 hours for me by train

It's a relatively new fansite for Chessington World of Adventures, so i'm not completely surprised you may not have heard of them. It's a good site though. :)

I think we have a new contender for "Worst Named Ride Ever".

Despite being in the south, I can't really see much reason to return to Southend I'm afraid. I've nothing against the park, but there just isn't anything there I want to re-ride.

I know no one on here was planning to come down for this, but I'll post this here anyway...

Basically, because of the manufacturer's organisation (or lack thereof) of this coaster delivery and construction, the ride will absolutely not be ready for Saturday.

The decision was taken literally moments ago to cancel the event. The fact is the ride is not going to be ready for this weekend and we now don't even have a date of completion.

As soon as the ride is built and ready, the event will take place as soon as possible to get the ride officially open.

So of course Adventure Island wants to offer the most sincere apologies to everyone who was hoping to ride Kiddi Koasta this Saturday - come along anyway and have a great day for just £7 - and when the date is confirmed there'll be another event and another chance for that offer! It may be a very short notice invitation, everyone involved is working as fast as they can to get it completed, but it's effectively in Zamperla's hands...
AstroDan

Out of interest, this may have been discussed on other fora I have no idea... however - for what purpose has the park installed this ride?

They already have Barnstormer, Green Scream and Mighty Mini Mega...!

Not quite sure what another kiddie coaster will add to their draw?

:?

Considering the parks target market is families with small children, it seems a perfectly reasonable installation to me!

That and they're installing a large thrill ride later in the year, and if rumours are be believed then Green Scream will be departing in the near future.

Well that makes more sense. I couldn't quite understand the need for 4 kids coasters, even if its your target market it seems quite heavy!!

It's also 4 more Childrens coasters than Alton Towers has!

I expect this addition cost less than what Alton Towers spent on its amazing new attraction of crabs this year, and will be infinitely more successful.

I totally agree about that... but 4 kiddie coasters still seems a bit OTT in one park.

Indeed, especially when it's sited next to 2 of the other 3.

I was down there this evening, and I seriously can't see it being open tomorrow. It was still a building site with bits of track lying around when I left at 8.30 tonight.

Proper rammed down there today too. Sun + Bank Holiday = busy Southend.

Kiddi Koasta will be categorised as a Mini Band Ride, which are rides suitable for riders under 1 metre in height (When accompanied by an adult).

All of the current family coasters at the park are Junior Band Rides, which means children need to be a minimum of 1 metre in height to ride.

The park wanted to push the Mini Wristband more, with the addition of a new and exciting ride for children under 1 metre and that is the reason for the installation of this coaster. Might seem strange to most for having yet another similar coaster, but this is designed for guests under 1 metre to try and increase sales of the Mini Band. Whereas the parks other coasters which are a bit more faster, are designed for children that measure 1 metre and up.

So basically, the park has a Roller Coaster to suit any age and height.
