Just noticed on the park map next to the pier there's the caption:

"Look Out For Our Exciting New Developments Next To The Pier"

Personally I don't think this means new rides . If I remember correctly there is a lot of indoor space in this area that has never been used so maybe an horror walk through experience, Laser Tag or Indoor Dodgems? And how about a High Ropes course in the open area with a few smaller rides around the base (all nicely themed of course).

They seem to have a large number of food outlets for such a small park and I don't see the need for a Helter Skelter and the Sea Serpent slides. Personally I think there just to similar.

I think they need to be careful what they put in this space as it's in a prime location to be viewed from outside of the park. It needs to make people driving/walking past go WOW and draw them into the park.

I agree it needs to be something that looks pleasing on the eye. Also I agree about the heater skelters. There's no need for two. However there is no point in getting rid of either of them as it wouldn't make enough room for anything new anyway.
They also have a zamperla disko and the kiddie version. Maybe they could get ride of the kiddie version as I think they have enough and need to bring in some more thrills.

Haha, it is worth a day trip, with the sea life down the road for £3 each it can be a really nice day out weather pending of course

Is it good for a long weekend away? What else is there to do there other than the amusement park?

One day in the park is usually plenty, opening hours are usually 10-10pm I think during the warmer months! There is a small sea life aquarium that is owned by the same company, which is brilliant for younger children however it would probably only take an hour to do. There are arcades and some nice restaurants along the seaside and on a hot day the beach is quite nice. The beach is stoney as opposed to sandy but is nice in warm weather.

Overall I think a long weekend would be too long to spend. Unless you either are going to see a show at the Cliffs Pavillion theatre or you could come down for the Airshow. If you come for the air show it can be a brilliant long weekend with lots to keep you busy

It is only a train - ride into London and an hours journey. I've been to Southend as my friend lives there and if I recall right, it was £15 day ticket on the train (with tube included too)

What's the nightlife and real ale pubs like there? Is there other places nearby worth visiting? What the holiday parks like?

^unfortunatly, being 16 I can't say. However I know there are a selection of pubs along the beach which I've heard are nice. There is a casino along the beach aswell which I'm told is real good fun if your in to that kind of thing, but also it's a good night out if you aren't.

I've never been to any, however there are a few around they so a quick search could tell you

As far as I'm aware the piece of land next to the pier is going to eventually become an indoor/enclosed area with a few rides, restaurants, arcades etc. This would help the park stay open all year.

There have been rumours of them looking at a very large and tall thrill ride for this area (before the indoor plans came along) - Adventure Island are very good at shuffling rides around to make room so something big could appear elsewhere.

If you scroll down a bit you'll see they have shown an artists impression of the new indoor attraction replacing blackboards and more about what they want to include in it.
They have said no to an indoor waterpark and laser tag, as well as admitting the council rejected plans for a star flyer and big wheel.

In other news the sealife adventure down the road is expecting penguins, seals and otters this year so you can tell they are really investing millions in to the business now which is always good

So I've been to AI today with my little sister with the plan of focusing on kiddie rides with maybe the odd go on Rage. However Rage was shut until 5:30pm with a ride car sitting at the bottom of the exit of the vertical loop. I took some pictures:




They told me it was a technical issue, although I'd assume it just stalled. But that then leads to the question as to how it stalled. If the ride car made it over the vertical lift hill how could it not complete the circuit?
At around 4pm they lifted the car off the track and just sat it on the ground. The ride began testing without the third car, when the second car got stuck on the lift hill. After half an hour of it being stuck on the lift it continued testing before opening shortly after.
If anyone knows how this could have happened please PM me as I'm rather interested

Feel kinda bad posting in a thread which has been inactive for four years but while down in Essex I took a visit to this park and loved it. Rage the only major coaster at the park is really smooth & a highly enjoyable short ride, Dragons Claw I love and is always a ride I go on at local fairs & Time Machine is one of the best flat rides I've been on just for sheer force, bit short though.
