It's good to hear about Speedwave's overhaul... It was riding like no Topscan I've ever encountered before last season - not great for what is (relatively speaking) quite a young machine.

I agree with thrilljunkie, I think Richard and his team are going to invest a lot into Sooty when it comes to children's rides and attractions, I already think this park is great, but if I could remove one ride it would be "Disco Fever" and I would put in an orbitor (like Stanley Gamble's Extreme). What would you remove and what would you put in?

When I rode Speed Wave last season it actually scared the hell out of me. Not because it was intense but because my restraint was loose and made loud clicking noises every time it rolled upside down, so I'm really glad they're giving it some TLC. The way it was looking last season it needed quite a bit of work done.

Why do they need Pontins land? They've still got plenty of land to expand on the market field behind the park. Every year this market is getting smaller and smaller so it makes sense for them to use this land (plus the land is owned by the same family as Fun City).

I disagree with getting rid of Disco Fever. I think it's quite a good ride and I like the sound track they've made for the ride. If there's one ride that needs to go it's "Hell Raiser". It's old, painful and gives a dull ride.

On another note the Dodgems need some attention too.

Yeah, Dodgem cars are outdated and lights are old. I also think wipeout could do with some work

If I'm around that weekend I may pop down too although IF there are any new attractions they don't tend to open them until the summer.

If I remember correctly most of the engineers return to work during February but a small number of staff have been working throughout the winter so expect activity to pick up next month.

During your visit did you get any closed season photo's? If so I'd be intrested to see them  :D
If not I'll have to pop down myself in a few weeks.

Yes ThrillJunkie, I do have some closed season pics. They aren't very good and I'm not sure how to upload them. I emailed the park about actually going in but had no reply :( . Anyone actually met Richard before? I would love to. Is he on TT lol!!

Oh and i know it's not technically Fun City but any one know anything about Brean Play?
PS When do the new leaflets come out as I would love a copy!

Bye, smilealways

I believe there is a topic around here somewhere that explains how to upload photos. In short use a site such as PhotoBucket to host your images and link them on here.

I emailed the park last year but never got a reply so don't hold your breath.

I've seen him several times but never met or spoken to him.

Brean Play is a new one on me. I wonder if this is in the same complex as "Brean Splash". Personally I'm hoping it will take over the "Wimpy" building as this needs attention and currently holds a small soft play area.

Any one viewed my Pics yet?
I want to know what you think of them.

Some silly person said Astro Storm had loops in it, I think he picked the wrong person to tell, I then informed him that I can confirm that Astro Storm has no loops! It was funny to see him embarrassed afterwards.

Thanks for uploading  :D

Looks like "Frisbee" has been completely stripped down but other than that not much in the way of activity.

Any photo's of "Speed Wave"?

I haven't got any at the moment, but I'll see if I can pop down this weekend?

Glad you liked them!

Also I am likely to be going mid Febuary will try and get some snaps then.

Have you got any closed season pics?

If your in the area grab some snaps but it's not worth making a special trip.

To be honest no. Been so busy with other things haven't had a chance to pop down.

Popped down to Brean yesterday to see what's going on. I've uploaded the photo's to my Facebook page.

Most of the park is still in "winter mode" and most of the rides are still packed away. Although it's hard to see from outside the park Speed Wave is still up and did look brighter than last year (Not sure if they've just given her a good pressure wash or they have stripped and repainted). I could see that the name has not changed  :(
All attractions are still in the same positions as last year but there is still plenty of time for them to be moved before the start of the season.

The biggest news is with "Brean Splash". The old indoor pool has been completely demolished and a new larger building has started going up in it's place. Without the old pool in the way you can see the new outdoor area which looks pretty good too.
