When walking round the park I always hear people say "oh Rita is the fastest rollercoaster here." Then I just stand there going "-Breathe. It's okay." The worse is when you go with people from your school or with mates and they are acting all cool saying facts or even when they think they are badass for doing no-hands all the way round the rollercoasters....hahahahahaha no..

I agree with that and also, when you overhear people at the end of rides, especially rollercoasters who say "is that it?" as if they expect them to last ages!
[/quote] Except G-force at drayton. It looks like it should last longer.
Also when people tell others about a rides secret element

I know what you mean with G-Force, I went with school one or two weeks back and it is too short, it's a very fun ride but it wasn't worth the hour and a half queue.

Rita being the fastest ride "fact" is actually acceptable in my eyes, as many people can easily easily can be misconstrued into believing so simply because of the launch. Although I like to shock a lot of people when I reveal Oblivion is slightly faster.

What grinds my axels though is when people call the Towers a castle.

Like you on Ripsaw;)

No, what winds me up is when they're like 'Oblivion makes you black out on the drop' or that Rita is faster. NO.
SHUSSSH AND REMOVE YOURSELF FROM ALTON TOWERS. NOW.

Oh god, worst is when people go once a year and think they know EVERYTHING about the park. No, shh.

Sitting in the diner at Flamingo Land yesterday,  I overheard a group of people say "the good thing about AT is that they have a KFC and they actually sell real KFC food"......no they don't anymore!

Worst for me is when children and teenagers sit on a message board and whinge about members of the general public not knowing the exact statistics and details of each ride at the park.

Wait a minute.

SuperWill wrote: This is a tough question but the comments which hurt me the most are the ones when people get lost and ask you for directions like "Where is Nemesis?" "Where is The Smiler?" etc etc! And I'm like "Get an AT map if you are lost!" :P
To be fair, the maps are of precious little use to anyone. IF you want to go between Forbidden Valley and Dark Forest, the maps generally lead you to think it's just a gentle stroll. If ever there's a theme park where people are going to get lost, it's Alton.

It doesn't hurt so much as it irritates me when people say "oh God that ride is HORRIBLE" without having been on it.  For instance, I have a friend who tells me not to mention Oblivion around her, because "it's just awful."  Okay, she doesn't like big rollercoasters and that's her choice, but you know what?  If you've not experienced something, you've not really got a right to state your negative opinion as fact.  Last time she said it, I ended up replying: "Well, I love Oblivion and I've actually been on it, whereas you're basing how terrible it is on the fact that you won't try it."  I've never ever knocked anyone for being scared of big rides, because we're all different, but I do get irked when those who dislike big rides talk to me like I must be stupid or mad for enjoying them.

Everybody at school knows about my addiction with roller coasters. I have been on this forum for a while, and had watched, and participated in the complete construction of the smiler on this forum. This means I knew about the layout, the theming, the records (i.e. EVERYTHING). It was a bit annoying when a friend at school told me in about June or later,
"Oh, Have you heard about the Smiler, its got like 14 loops!"
I was just like, "You have no idea......"
Of course I had. They think they are like really up to date with the news, and one of the first to know about it.

Why do people think this?
