Ahead of the ride's opening this Saturday, various signs have been added around the ride, with the images taken from the minisite.

Here a few shots, from the minisite, of the completed ride before it opens to the public today!

Also, I've only just realised that they've released an app, like with The Smiler, with more information here. In fact, this ride has followed a fairly similar marketing campaign to The Smiler, with the name not being announced until quite late and also with the fancy smoke and light unveiling of the ride.

Maybe this is how future attractions will be unveiled by Merlin?

A 'Making Of' video has been released showing behind the scenes of the ride's advert.

Heide Park will be making use of the big lake in the centre of the park by introducing a new kids island area known as Drachenzaehmen Die-Insel (Train your Dragon - The Island). It is being built in co-operation with DreamWorks and will cost about 5 million Euro. Four rides are also planned for the area.

There is a website for the this which can be viewed Here

Why can't movie themed rides be themed to have decent movies like Hot Fuzz or Team America: World Police?
Erm, change of plan, I prefer The Smiler. Rita's rubbish. Should have thought of that...

Dragons is a very popular IP, having both movies and a television series. I can fully undersatnd why they have chosen this IP. Plus, because of Shrek's Adventure in the London, they probably have a good connection with Dreamworks.

Hot Fuzz & Team America unfortunately are cult movies, not widely known but so loved by fans.

Think this is actually good as its quite a popular theme.

What you've got to remember is that this is a family addition. Whilst I think Hot Fuzz is a great film, it doesn't really lend itself to a theme-park ;)
I for one look forward to seeing this. How to train your Dragon is quite popular and a good movie.

I know, but it would be cool though. Besides, I used to like the httyd films, so some nostalgia could be their. :lol

I adore the How to Train Your Dragon books and films. This is something that I think has a huge scope in terms of design, originality and the theming they can really go all out on. Lets just hope they don't just fill the area with a bunch of cheap Zamperla rides and they think this through.

More details have emerged about this new addition. The area itself, from what i can work out, will have four rides/attractions. There will also be a themed hotel room too. More deails can be found here
