The original Spring date for planning has been pushed back to at least October. But I do respect PY Gerbeau, not just for recovering from COVID-19, but also he is really trying, along with his colleagues, to try and iron out the creases and get this project off the ground ASAP.

I'm glad they are regularly updating the media on progress, and I only hope all the doubters will be proved wrong when this project starts to become very real.

The London Resort have detailed further progress in its preparation to submit a formal proposal.
The Resort are planning on holding online consultations towards the end of the summer, and are due to submit a 300 page Environmental-Scoping Document on June 12th. As well as this, the Resort have been negotiating conditions for land acquisition.
Are you excited to see how this new development continues to unfold?

I am apprehensive about this project but really hope it goes ahead. It seems to be gathering a bit more traction and possibility of something happening.
I think if it does happen it could change the UK theme park industry for the better, if done to spec, this park could be a serious contender to other main parks in the UK and set a high bar.

London Resort have taken the next step toward the submission of their planning application later this year with the publishing of an Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report. SouthParks examine all the new details to emerge from the Scoping Report, including further clues about the layout of the Resort and the potential height of the rollercoasters which will feature in the theme park.

Never realized the location was a short walk from Ebbsfleet International. You could spend a few days there, then get straight on the train to Disneyland Paris and spend a few days there. I wish Ebsfleet had better transport rail links for the south, having to go into London then out again makes it take twice as long as it should and adds a big chunk to the cost.
The height of the mountain is almost identical to Expedition Everest so it should be pretty impressive. From what we've seen of the promo art, the 40m coaster looks like it could be the one that goes around the castle
According to that picture there are 5 coasters, 3 water rides (one rapids, one dark ride with a large drop, one that is either a water coaster or a log flume) and some sort of single car monorail type thing. They've previously said 70% of the attractions with be indoor so that means this could open with north of 26 attractions which is an impressive number for a new park. There are also 2 identical coaster looking things in the waterpark / hotel but away from any of the pools, wonder what they are.

I count... 18 rollercoasters (or at least tracked rides) and 2 water rides. Guessing there's a lot of filler/placeholder stuff in that artwork as that would be a very impressive tally for a mature park, let alone a new one.
I assumed the area to the left was where the waterpark would be but the isolated coasters depicted there make it a bit of a mystery.

Still won't get my hopes up until there's real building work going but the 2nd gate thing does explain the weird layout with rollercoasters way off to the left. My guess is a park aimed at smaller children.
The designs in general are definitely at a stage where it feels they could start building. It's hard to find any fault with the plans, themselves, the only core worry now being the mega financial outlay needed and "these uncertain times"

Merlin Entertainments have raised procedural concerns with the planning process for The London Resort, citing insufficient consultation and a potential material change in the application resulting from the revisions due to be made following the recent Site of Special Scientific Interest notification.
They suggest that the application should be withdrawn, reconsulted and resubmitted, otherwise they believe any determination could be subject to successful legal challenge.
A letter has also been submitted by BALPPA, who ask that the period for Relevant Representations is reopened to allow existing leisure operators to register as Interest Parties, in order to respond to the new 'Supporting Resort and Leisure Market Assessment' that is due for submission.
What do you make of these developments? I'm intrigued to know the reason why Merlin care so much, which is a definite change in attitude considering it was only a few years ago that Nick Varney doubted the project would happen. Do we think they see it as a threat?
