As some of you may have noticed when we launched our Secret Weapon 7 Minisite at midnight our entire website including the forum vanished offline moments later. We know there have been many rumours regarding what happened so we thought we would let you know the exact cause.
Basically, in a nutshell was underestimated the immense popularity of TowersTimes, at midnight when we launched the new site we had a surge of traffic 1500% above normal. The result of this was that it triggered the security on our dedicated server which took us offline to protect the site. All of that from a minimal teaser campaign on our Facebook page!
Of course it wouldn't be secret weapon related without some substantial downtime just like the rides themselves!
Going forward we have adjusted the settings so this will not happen again, especially as we have so many exciting things to launch in the future!
