AQUATRAX @@@@@@

Just saying what we're all thinking. It could be anything really, don't PBB call Infusion a 'water coaster'? I hope it's something decent as another incentive to visit that area of Europe for coaster goodness.

Well it's definitely not a Batman clone for that money, unless it's damn well themed. Remember that due to inflation, coasters will always be a million or so more expensive than the same ride would have been a few years ago. £17 million seems to be the average big B&M going rate these days.

An Aquatrax isn't out the picture at all me thinks.
Roller Coaster: Atlantis Adventure
Cost: 35 billion South Korean Won (About 29.2 million USD).

30.00 USD = 18.5722 GBP
So about right, with the extra cost for Atlantis being the extensive theming and different exchange rate. :)

God yes! The world needs more Intamin AquaTrax! I wouldn't mind Toverland splashing out on one (pun!), but then it needs to be on par with Atlantis Adventure off of Lotte World
AstroDan

I just don't understand Toverland. Sure, it's "quirky" but why invest in MASSIVE scale coasters when everything else is, quite literally designed for 7 year olds?

I do enjoy myself at TL but for "older" visitors there are:
- Woudracer Bob Sleigh ride
- Booster Bike
- Troy
- Log Flume

- and, even the above, they're all pretty much family rides anyway!

Surely they need to get more thrilling small-scale rides in rather than lumping some huge, £15m coaster in before they're really ready?

It's almost like the money is burning holes in their pockets. Develop the park properly first... It would be like Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock Bath adding a B&M this year!

:o

NB - no sign of any construction when we visited on December 30th.

When I was there last, I bumped into a "Astrodan Look-a-like" and he said then that there was rumour of a B&M invert and this was over a year ago.

Found an article on the future of Toverland. Not sure if it’s been posted elsewhere.
http://www.iaapa.org/industry/funworld/ ... /index.asp

Interesting about being able to ask Walibi and Efteling for advice. I don’t know whether other countries have an equivalent to BALPPA or whether this works on a more informal basis. I have heard that businesses in other European countries are better at sharing information, but BALPPA has a decent presence in Britian:
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/artic ... _page_id=2

They have grown very fast and are now getting the sorts of visitors that Light Water Valley had at their peak. I’ve never visited myself, but things like teaching staff magic tricks sounds like a good idea. Presumably they’re not thinking just about the rides.

They’ve done well to expand so fast and it sounds like the owners have business experience going back before Toverland. Apparently they’re using the banks to fuel expansion, but it sounds like they know what they’re doing. It’s not uncommon for theme parks to have debts. Obviously this can cause problems, but if entrepreneurs weren’t prepared to take risks there wouldn’t be any new businesses. Also, it sounds like they’re borrowing money to expand rather than to pay dividends or cannibilise the competition. Their heart's in the right place. Hopefully I’ll visit one day.

Rollercoaster in the Toverland isnt coming this Year.
They need more time for planing and the Coaster will open in 2011.

Toverland goes further with the myth of Troy
Image

Coastervision (another dutch website) was present at the press conference regarding this years addition to Toverland. Toverland wants to expand the area around Troy in the following years, so the myth around Troy is being expanded.

This year there will be 2 additions, a 15 meter high swinging ship and a horsetrack for the little ones. The swingship has a very special tail... The Scorpion (Scorpios) brings you back to the authentic harbor around Troy. The new attractions will open beginning of july at Toverland. A fixed food and drinks point will be added in the same style as.

Scorpios
The special thing about this swing ship is the angle of decline. A normal ship goes to 60 degrees, this one has a minimum of 75, according to Caroline Maessen. During the press conference we were also given a small preview regarding the music around. As soon as you arrive you will get into the vibe of the area, but as soon as you board the ship.. it will change completely.. a storm is coming..

Facts:
Height Scorpios: 15 meters
Length Scorpios: 16 meters
Speed: 42 km/hour
Minimum height: 110cm
Number of people: 42 guests per ride
Capacity: 800 gasts/hour
Cost of the entire area: €2.500.000,-

Oddyseus:
According to Caroline Maessen this was only the beginning of what was to come for next year. Guests will be able to pass along this attraction to the new Oddyseus. What this will be be has not been revealed just. Next year Toverland celebrates it's 10 years party and they want togo big for this. Construction for Oddysseus will start in September assuming funding will go as planned since this will be a 10 million euro.

Thanks for sharing that. Nice to see parks trying to give what can be seen as very safe and traditional flat rides a bit of twist.

Also good to see Toverland trying to become a more rounded and complete park, with a (very well) themed area to show off their masterpiece from.

Is that an early design for a new coaster, or a re-themed Booster Bikes shown in the artist's impression? Looks very similar.

10 million Euro wouldn't be nearly enough for the rumoured B&M I assume. How much would a mega-lite set you back?
For some things there is no rational explanation. There is no way out. There is no happy ending to this story. Welcome to the unknown. Welcome to eternal darkness.

Welcome to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Ride

Bosses at Toverland have got permission to start construction of the first park in a seven park series. Grand Canyon, the first part of Nature Wonder World, is due to open in 2014. At a cost of €800 million. €800 million. €800 million. The only image available is below.

Bigger version.

I would guess the brown track near the blimp is a woodie. The blue tracked coaster with a vertical drop just south of that looks like a B&M dive machine. The yellow coaster south of that looks like a compact invert, not unlike a Batman clone. The blue track to the east of that looks like either a log flume or a Vekoma mine train. The area to the far west looks like it could be a rapids.

Efteling must be absolutely crapping themselves right now.

There is a video here. It doesn't tell you very much, as it's all in Dutch.

The close up of the above map in that video shows that the east track isn't a Vekoma mine train, sadly, but some sort of road/driving attraction.

Edit: here,

According to ThemeParkReview:

The goal is to create 7 parks about the 7 wonders of the world (Great Barrier, Mount Everest, Grand Canyon, Paricutinvolcano, Rio De Janeiro Bay, Victoria Waterfalls, Northern Lights)

Now that is mighty impressive! If this is pulled off anything like the concepts show then it really will be quite something! I look forward to following this!

Looks...actually awesome. I hate this. I just hate that there are seemingly an infinite number of amazing parks being built/existing in Europe. Only so many days you can go for Theme Park excursions. :p

Woah. Finally an excuse to visit those relatives in Limburg. :)

The video doesn't mention too much of interest by the way. It's mainly about the finances etc. Does say that the seven park plan should be completed in 25 years.

Thia is great to have such a large park being built on a 40 min plane flight away. If only someone decided to declare war on the UK with plans like this. Our tourism industry has taken a nose dive in recent years. More and more people are choosing not come to the UK and its no surprise when other European countries are putting more effort into captivating customers with large scale projects that try to compete with the rest of the world. The royal family and history that we have been selling over the past few decades have become unfashionable in this era and nobody has had the sense to realise this. All we have to offer as an equivilent is a 3 hr walk round Thorpe Park.
