Not saying this is going to happen, its only a suggestion but when CCF IP runs out why not start over and create a new water ride? Something like pirates of the caribbean at disney land, not pirate themed though. And when the log flume is on it lasts legs, they will still have a "water" ride

To take your idea further, a Valhalla style/Pirate of the Caribbean style water ride will be built, and then the Flume removed. Children's rides can be placed on the Flume site, themed to Mutiny Bay, so that becomes the Family Area of the park. A children's ride can also be placed in the old CCL so there's something for everyone.

I do think a different, wacky theme should still be used for CCL though, that fits the child's ride as well as the water ride, such as a crazy professor who started out on the children's ride, and then made a scary invention.

On the TTF@10 Mark did say a bit about IPS and how they have really worked for towers, espeically Ice Age. So I think 2014 or 2015 will certainly see adventure land and storybook land completely re done and made into one area themed around a well known IP. Sonic will most likely stay I think, just themed around a new theme. I cant see why they would remove it when its still popular and fills a gap between the really big rollercoasters and the smaller ones (which they lack at the moment :P).

Although your case is a possibility. Sonic isn't as loveable as someone like Squirrel Nutty with really small children, so with a more younger IP or original property that is more friendly and recognizable to kids than a gaming mascot who has 7+ games. A interesting subject of course, what are everyone else's thoughts on this?

This guy knows what he talking bout! No pirates, no mega coasters over water. Just a new water ride. The thing is CCL lives and breathes of IP's. Without CATCF and Ice Age, you just have 4 or 5 kids rides with no similar theme. I think Cloud Cuckoo will have to have a mini theme in it soon. Keep rides like the Carousel the same but maybe have a mini Ice Age within the area.

HINT HINT!: Ice and Water= Surely an ICE AGE water ride??? ;)
Theme Parks are my way of life.

You never know. By the time the next game comes out, Sonic could be the most popular thing ever! ;)

However, I do agree with you saying it's an awful idea, Not anything to do with the themeing, but the ride idea sounds awful. So I agree with you on that

In terms of the resort I think they need to focus on building a 'budget' resort hotel as I think it would be very popular, I imagine alot of the custom the travelodge/premier inns in the area get are due to Alton Towers so building their own on site seems like a no brainer. However as well as this they would probably also need some more entertainment for after park hours to accomodate the additional guests.

I don't think they will ever build a budget hotel.

If they did, everybody would stay there and not at the other hotels.

No budget hotels please, keep that in the surrounding areas.

I don't oppose the hotels having different quality levels though (I suppose star rating would be the appropriate term), a bit like what Disney do.

Already the AT Hotel is consistently more expensive than Splash although I think this happened by mistake as it wasn't that way when Splash first opened, they were more or less equal. People seem to prefer the AT one because it feels a little more grown up and has a bit more class.

But, I do think they should either build a mega expensive flashy 5 star one, or something just a little lower ranking than Splash but certainly not budget by any means. Still need to keep "the alton towers experience".

You also have the problem of riff raff. Splash just manages to keep them out and I've already had a few stays there before where there's been people who I'd rather not be around at such expense.

Whilst Alton Towers understand the need for a budget hotel, I doubt it is something they'll implement themselves on resort. It just doesn't fit with the brand and market they are targeting for overnight stays.

It is something they've talked about with the local community councils though. Mark said they had managed to help get planning for one put in the local area development plan, so I'd expect to see one sooner or later.

A little bit elitist and horrible, don't you think?

Maybe people see you in the hotels and think "I'd rather not be around that riff raff..."

No budget hotels please! The park would only be stealing business from local B&Bs, Pubs and campsites. Not to mention it will took tacky and out of place. If they want a hotel, go down the four to five star road and make a highly themed, unique experience.

As for the plans, I wouldn't take them too seriously. It will give us a rough Idea of what will happen in the next ten years or so but nothing is set in stone. X-sector wasn't highlighted when the plans were draffed in 2009 and we are getting SW7 next year on the black hole site.

What you have to remember is when you stay at one of the park's hotels you are not paying for the quality of the hotel - but the location.

Therefore, a budget hotel would not work.

I hope to whatever higher power there is that Sonic/Spinball/Chronic..ball goes. It has dire throughputs, attracts the longest queues at the start and end of the day (nightmare for staff if it breaks down - guest complaints regading ruining the start of the day or being late home) and is noisy! There is enough room there for the installation of something more suited to the demographics of the area in terms of proximity to the village.

I know I keep banging on about it!

Can the toilets be a development? Pretty please? I keep banging on about that, too. Maybe I should occupy Towers with a luxury loo roll and a Mack brochure...

Not to mention that its an eyesore! They should remove it and install a Mack youngstar or do a two coaster deal with Gerstlauer and get a junior along with or shortly after SW7.

Oh come on Sam be realistic! Do you really want the people off Jeremy Kyle taking over and vandalizing the hotels?

''trash the hotels never there fine just the way thay are for the moment''
large sites that maybe avalible in the future to build on
car park[large untouched new area possible],between F.V.and D.F [large unused space possible coaster/theamed area],black hole area [taken]

new theamed areas
sorry storybook land most of the rides are getting on a bit [theres only so many coates of paint you can apply lol] so i think a change in the forseable future ie new rides or a compleat overhaul of the whole area as for the gardens it would be nice to have a meal or a drink in the gardens. What they should is renavate one of the old buildings into a restraunt/bar theres plenty of buildings that need a bit of TLC out there just theres no money to be made or is there?. [yeah like thats ever going to happen i can always dream tho] lol :)
