Ok Id change a few things:
1 - clean the damn thing!
2 - new seats, the ones at the moment are abit tatty
3 - the stations are very dank and dingy, make them nice!
4 - more trains on the track, you seem to queue for aaages to get on even when the park is dead
Not bothered about it being commercialised, it will bring some money which it obviously needs.

Seeing as this is just a general Alton Towers... thing, it really doesn't need to go OTT on any themeing. I obligate to any Cadburie's themeing, it just needs to stay bland, simple and authentic.
I do think the trains need a re-paint. Silver isn't their color and matches nothing of Alton Towers. Maybe they could paint them the blue in the logo and add little drawing's to side's of each car, maybe representing each major ride there, or maybe just the AT logo. Whatever, it really does need a re-paint!
Stations are fine IMO, maybe again something to reflect the big ride's in AT here and there but apart from that they ain't broke and therefore don't need fixing. And I agree with oldgitBEN that some nice matching seat's would be nice also.

What I would do:
Replace the monorail trains with new ones, which have TV screens in the carriage, but make the monorail feel like your boarding a plane to escape from reality, and to enter a magical kingdom. Paint the trains blue with a silver line going round the outside, make them look cool. Remember these trains are actually older than they seem, because they were second hand when Alton got them.
Provide a commentary and a video that matches the surroundings, like when travelling through Gloomy Wood the screen could show news reports about the scientist's disappearance, and the voice could talk about 'To your left/right is the Gloomy Wood, but we recommend you don't visit there. People who visit, never return'. Make the Monorail Station at the Car park look like a normal Train Station, with timetables, clocks, etc, and make the station at the Entrance look Victorian, like something out of Jules Verne.

Oh my gawd you can't do suspended monrails it wouldn't work! But ill have a banana anyways :!:
They used to do a talking tour on the monorail back in the late 80's early 90's. I don't think it needs a commentary, plus you can't cover each area of the park as you go past, obviously.

i like the cadbury idea the parks colours and it would just look so good! the interior could be done all retro! and laso to fit in with the colour scheme, and for convience for the staff (i am nice ) and so it does not get in the state that they are now, like fake leather( pvc wipe clean seats, they are comfortable enough for that journey and it will take less time and to clean and dry! simple!
p.s does anyone know if the cadbury thing is happennig and if so when or when has it?

I think what stoky means is that a suspended monorail wouldnt go with the park and one would suit it.
But, i think, repaint them all a bluey/purple with the AT logo on the sides some new seats, and no commentry...and re-do the stations again a bluey/purple with new plasmas.

Whats going on here i have always wondered why people say the monorail is second hand.....
A article states the following facts...
Dispursement Of Expo 86
The Monorail - Is now located at Alton Towers Theme Park in England.
and
Facts and Figures
The monorail is from Expo 86 which was held in Vancouver British Columbia.
The links for them extracts are on the web pages to follow.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alton_Towers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expo_86
So does this mean the monorail operated there or was stored and held on display there ??

WOW after more research i found this site....
http://www.geocities.com/exposcruff/index2.html
If you look at the images that change at the bottom you will see a picture of our monorail at EXPO 86, why does it fit so well with the Alton Towers landscape, does it have anything to do with the track been re-designed?
You can see another picture and more information on the monorail here..

The monorail is agood way of getting people to and from the park. However, the trains could do with a refurb, as they ARE getting dated on the inside. Increasing capacity would be a good idea, so providing maybe another 2 trains & a shed to keep them in would be good.
Also, www.atdatabase.co.uk says that if you ask you can drive the monorail & get a certificate, and go straight to the front of the qeue if you have prebooked. Why not advertise this a bit more, then AT could make some extra money.
Finally, could we have extra staff on the platforms to make sure that all 6 seats per compartment are filled? When I last rode, an Asian family of 3 refused to let my father, brother & I take the remaining 3 seats. This shouldn't be allowed.

Well I think that should paint the Monorail the Alton Towers deep blue with a red stripe down the middle and the Alton Towers Logo on every other car.
I would add 2 movie screens to each car which either are connected to the Alton Towers new flat screen tv system. Or Play a movie for people arriving at the park until 3:30 where it shows people reviews of the day and adverts for people leaving the park.
The movies would be timed so they talk about the rides you go past when your on the car gives a talk of the park and when its not going pasy rides discusses the rides you cant see. e.g oblivion
Also there will be new plush seats and new station announcements.
Stations should have more screens and cleaned up more.

to make it more fun i would do a nice looking murial like the one in the station when you get there with around the world in 80 days on and the swans but all the stations walls would be covered just so the people had something interesting to look at the seets made the same it looks a bit odd at the moment and in alton towers colours please and i will clean the monorail cars each morning if anyone if offering
