The only time this could be possibly useful would be during the longer opening days ie scarefest and fireworks but being as scarefest is the shortest ever event and this offer isnt valid for fireworks. Alton are having a laugh.

It works in american parks because they open so much longer than our parks, its as simple as that.

In a day at alton I wont have breakfast there (I tend to eat at home before i leave, as Id imagine most people do, especially as the park doesnt open til 10 anyway).

I will have lunch, maybe grab a meal in Woodcutters, and have a pint (alcohol excluded from this package).

Perhaps a bottle of pop during the day too.

Then I might grab a snack on the way out, and eat dinner at home.

I suspect this covers the majority of people, silly alton.

Merlin are on to a winner with this one really. Just think how popular 'all you eat' buffet restaurants are, they're in every town and across the country now and even Alton Towers has one! But, do they offer value? Nope. Most people eat far less than what they actually pay for but at face, they look good value so people buy into the idea.

The same will work with this ticket. People know food and snacks are expensive at Alton Towers. So instantly, all you can eat for £22.00 sounds great as you know you'll never pay more than this no-matter what you eat all day. People will buy into the convenience and reassurance factors.

I think people are forgetting the rules of business, you design a product and pitch it at a price, if it sells too well you up the price, if it sells badly you lower the price. This will settle at a price people are willing to pay and as it doesn't increase my queue time (like fastrack) or my enjoyment of the day (like Towers Street upselling) then i really don't think its a problem. People will either pay it or not and their decision is well outside of my control.

If more money making schemes as un-intrusive as this could come along and result in them NO LONGER PROVIDING FASTRACK AT STUPID PRICES INCREASING MY QUEUE TIME.... then great!

Thing is, many people buy their drinks from vending machines. But then again, the majority party of 4 pay just around £22 pound, so Alton are onto a sly winner here. Well done Merlin.

Only place where vending machines actually did well were the queuelines, and the majority of those have been replaced with kiosks anyway

Those that think Alton will lower the price after a while are crazy. Its one of those offers that sounds excellent but in reality is not good value for money as nobody eats that much.

Just had a quick look at the offer and I don't think anyone has mentioned yet that it excludes all bottled beverages, so it's really quite restrictive on what you can drink on the offer (basically only the items it costs the park next to nothing to buy in).

Also, it excludes the firework dates... so there's three of the longer days of the season out of the picture.

There's an interesting referance to "serving time restrictions" as well, which makes it sound like it may not be available at certain outlets at peak dining times.

Not feeling it myself! We tend to go to Explorers pizza and pasta buffet at about 2-3pm and bring our own stuff to drink anyway, so would never be able to purchase and consume £22.50's worth of food.

Plus there's nothing worse than going on a ride feeling absolutley stuffed to the core of food...

Yeah, I used this opening day and shared it with my girlfriend, worked perfectly although some staff seemed a bit confused however It was opening day

realistic break down of costs:
starting at 9AM (early ride time) 10AM normal opening

breakfast (full english) at the towers family restaurant £5
(ride Time)
snack Drink (large coke) £3
(ride Time)
Lunch (steak) woodcutters bar and grill with a drink (pint of coke) £15
(ride Time)
Snack Drink (large coke) £3
(ride Time)
Final stop (dependant upon hunger)
snack and drink £6
meal at pizza and pasta £9
just a drink £3

so that's £29 at cheapest and £35 at most expensive
the actual eating and drinking should only take about an hour and a half - 2 hours depending on what options you choose.
with early ride time and closing at 5PM there's 8 hours 7 with normal opening, i think 5-6 hours in the park on rides is enough? specially on quieter days.

I understand what people are saying but 22.50x2 plus 12.50x1 for three days is 175 online basicly 54 or somthing per day. THat sounds alot but we are staying at the splash landing hotel. so lunch snacks dinner and drink all day for 50 somthing is outstanding value for all of us. When i have been there in past i umm and rrrrrr about getting another drink or buying a snack becouse of price. What im going to enjoy is going into all the food areas and not being restricted. Any parent knows how hard it is going to places like this and saying no to your child, this way if she wants some chicken,hot dog, ice cream, drink she can havee whenever she likes. A bit like being on an all inclusive on holiday its a holiday thing. SO IF YOU ARE STAYING AT THE HOTEL WOULD RECOMMEND ALL THE TREATS FOR MY DAUGHTER WILL BE ON TAP...... 

ALSO A good way of looking at it is you can putr on a credit card and pay for it over a month and basicly have advanced purchase now know wont have to scrimp ansd save the week before or of. We are going in june so everything paid for used a 50% off code so all in all 450 for food park hotel for 3 days which is very reasnoble for 3 people.

Also will maybe take a few sneaky wine bottles to hotel room not sure if they check suitcases but will have a few glasses of wine in room at night . tehhhhhh

They don't check your suitcases, so pack what you want in there xD

If you're staying at Splash and planning on eating at Flambo's though, you might be best not eating much all day and saving it all for the all you can eat experience at the end of the day (£20 an adult).

If not eating much then you might just be better to buy a couple of Quenchers (£5 each) for unlimited drinks (and you can use them on more than 1 day - just stick them in a carrier bag under a jumper - nobody checks anyway).

But I can see why the dine all day offer might be great for you, so both might work for you

Out of flambos or unlimited dining on park, I think i'd choose the latter option.

Food quality is far fresher, far better quality, and far better range of food if bought on park. Plus, you don't just have to stuff your face until you're full then you're done - you can spread your food out of stuff your face all day!

Edit: Plus eat at end of ride close, and you won't need to eat in hotel in evening. Winner!
