Looking at Chris' post, it would appear that he meant posts, not threads.
Would be rather awesome if it were possible, though it is already the case that if you click on the latest post link it'll take you straight to the first post you haven't read.

There's a notifications option in your profile. A number of users were sent an announcement notification today in error thanks to a permissions issue (oops) meaning an announcement mail was sent instead of stickying a topic. That's been rectified now, so no further announcements will be sent anyway .Dean wrote: How do you turn off Board Announcement emails?
Edit: Duplicate post.... oops! Craig beat me to it by a minute! :P
In short, you won't be getting any more of those. That was an unfortunate configuration error (*cough*Craig*cough*) that left a setting for everyone to be emailed for an "announcement" post switched on by default.
We caught around 2,900 of the emails and stopped them going out, but some of them slipped the net faster than we could react to the error.
So yeah, no more 'announcement' emails, and apologies to anyone that did get one, particularly if you didn't ask to be sent any email. It won't happen again.

On the new reply page, the button to quote someone does not work. When you click on it to add that post as a quote, it does not go into the message you're typing.
This always worked fine on the old site, so it musn't just be me, surely?

I have just tried doing it and it works for me in Firefox Blaze, which browser are you using just so Joel has more info?
I think unfortunately that is your answer. I have no idea why it doesn't work for IE8, but I'll have a look.Blaze wrote:Goodold IE. 8 I think.
You sure you're only running IE8 and not IE9?

Joel - are you able to hack into Blaze's computer, destroy IE entirely and install Chrome for him? :P

It actually is 8.
Not going to get 9, so I suppose I should get with the times and get Chrome or Firefox then...

We were, but I think I might have fixed it now. Try editing something now and see if your avatar sticks.
(You might have to put in your avatar URL one more time, then try editing something else on your profile after).

Just stop using IE. This site isn't designed for the sort of people that use IE.
There isn't a recommended browser. I wouldn't be so harsh to say that I wouldn't advise people to not use IE to view the site, but unfortunately IE isn't capable of displaying and using the site how it was intended by SMF and somewhat myself to be.
For my personal opinion, of course I would very much so recommend that anyone stopped using the IE line of browsers. Its compliance and ability to render pretty much "universal" HTML standards are frustrating to say the least, and I'm pretty sure behind closed doors many web developers would happily like to tie up IE and burn it at a stake.
That said, IE9 does get a lot better, but it still has some annoying quirks and bugs.
I would personally recommend any of the other big browsers as they all do great jobs to support the many HTML standards as you would expect them to be rendered.

Could we possibly have a thread that will act as a sort of "change log" for all new features, plug-ins and SMF updates as they are installed on the forum please Joel?

Any chance of spoiler tags coming back?
