Like others have said before, you could walk straight through it and use it as a way of getting to Enterprise and Energiser from the hole.
I remember those electric thingys :D
They were there the very first time I visited alton towers!

I remember those plasma disks. They were so cool at the time because at that time you couldn't buy them in gadget shops(gadget shops didn't even exist). Might still make a nice none-central detail in something - a bit like the optical illusions on the back of the Smiler seats.
