As soon as I woke up this morning I was thinking about Forbidden Valley  I was wondering what this area looked like as Thunder Valley, before Nemesis was "born"

Because I didn't go to Alton Towers until 1997 so I've never seen the area before Nemesis first opened, I was only 12 at the time when I first went to Alton Towers and only just met the height restrictions so was tall enough to ride the bigger rides.

I've only seen a couple of Nemesis construction photos on another Alton Towers' fansite and a bit of Thunder Looper in the photos but that's it.

Does anyone have any old photos of Thunder Valley they would like to share? It would be interesting to see the past area exactly where Nemesis is now :)

It was essentially just barren land.

Few bits of grass, rocks. No themeing as such.

Few photos here:

The area themeing came with Nemesis.

Wow, that's empty. Whereabouts is that today? Somewhere in the Nemy / Air area?

Judging by the distance of the monorail station, I'd say near where Air turns around to go to the brake run? Maybe a bit further left.

The monorail station looks so out of place without any hotels or anything!

The picture would have been taken from the top of the Beast in Thunder Valley. (more or less straight above where the vending machines are in Air's queueline)

The little white building would now be inside Splash Landings and the path running from the road to the Monrail runs through Extraordinary Golf.

Wow, is that exactly where Nemesis and Air is now?

It's amazing how it went from just that empty green space to a big hole with an awesome ride in it :D

Thanks for sharing the picture WillPS! :)

The thanks all go to Jase who took these and several other rare shots in his time on park.

Thanks for the clarification Phil, I believe the road still exists (the access road in to Forbidden Valley)?

Oh. I just wanted to see the area where Nemesis is now lol.

I do kinda remember it when Air wasn't there. But I wasn't there before Nemesis opened, I was too young at the time.

I already seen these pictures before, I mentioned that in my first post lol.

But this http://gallery.towersalmanac.com/displa ... =258&pos=0 is what I kinda wanted to see, thanks! :)

It's weird seeing that area being sooo empty and without Nemesis! Wasn't it next to Thunder Looper? I could see the ground already been dug up in that photo for the "valley". I know the first helix on Nemesis goes under the monorail track..
