I like the idea, but didn't the old annual pass office just get refurbished...?
Depends on your definition of a refurbishment. There were a few new desks but nothing too different. Moving it into the YourDay building is a much better idea, they need the space.

Very good idea in my opinion, will no doubt make things a lot easier for those wishing to purchase add ons. The annual pass office is very small anyway so having somewhere else that they can be done too is great.

I totally agree with Rob. I think infrastructure projects are far more important to the park in the long term than new rides. I like the idea of consolidating all the guest services into one HQ! Still, I wonder what will be done with the old AP office. Will this replace guest services as well? And does anyone have any photos?

A member of staff has posted some photos on Facebook, but I would need his permission to post them on here.

no dont think so and am I able to use these photos on my website but link to them to here and say they where from this forum?
Personally I wouldn't as neither myself, nor TT own these photos. I will try and get in touch with the owner to see if it is ok, but I guess it wont be long until TT manage to get hold of a few photos anyway.

Well, it looks snazzy, but its so out of keeping with Towers Street its unreal.
Very handy and practical, a good move by Towers.
The exterior decor is horribly out of keeping with Towers Street and is a bit clichéd, but that's a small issue.
All in all a nice move.

I've never liked the exterior of the Your Day shop, it's not in keeping with the theme of Towers Street at all. But this is a great move by Towers as the shop will have the infrastructure already in place, I suppose it will help with promotions as well as more guests are likely to notice this when they enter/exit the park.
I'm quite curious now as to what they will do with everything around the park. It'll be quite a task to rip up all the sensors, cameras and wiring throughout the park... I can't see it being a cheap thing to remove either.
It's quite unfortunate that the system was unpopular. It's a good idea on paper but failed to deliver in reality, the fact that the DVDs had very little footage of guests and mostly consisted of stock footage made the product not worth it for me.

These photos are ultimately his and I cannot really allow people to use these on their sites, without his consent.

Cheaper just to leave it in place...?

The shop looks like its barely changed since it was YourDay/Alton Towers Resort DVD branded so I don't really care if it doesn't fit with Towers Street. Its been like that since 2007-ish.
I only learnt of this change late last night, but I was saying at ride close how they need to do something like this, so I'm pretty pleased with this addition.
I'd certainly much rather buy an annual pass in a large and modern shop instead of in a tiny broom cupboard hidden in a corner.
Everyone has been very negative lately but, in this case, well done to Alton Towers.

They should leave them up-as a warning from history.

...a bit like those TV screens around park?
I'm really glad the park have done this. Got rid of a product that was doomed to fail, whilst creating a nice, crisp and clean sales and information centre

I think it's an absolutely brilliant decision!
It looks fantastic from the photos, and I think this along with the minor Guest Services refurb are things which will make a great impression for guests, and are the kind of little details which the part need to be focussing on .
As for not fitting in with the theme of Towers Street, I honestly don't think that's a problem as Towers Street barely has a theme anyway. The building's got its own distinctive look and title and a sleek modern feel to it, and presumably is going to become the equivalent of "Xtra Advetures" at Chessie (a new building for which has just been built there too).

I agree that this is a great move by Alton Towers. It seems to be a much better use of the space than the DVD shop and it's increasing convenience for guests at the same time
