Alton Towers' website and Facebook page appears to have been updated with some interesting information about the concert day, to be named 'Alton Towers Live'.
From the webpage at the Alton Towers site:
On 19 June 2011, the Alton Towers Resort is staging an amazing music extravaganza featuring some of the biggest names in pop!
Alton Towers Live will feature JLS, McFly, The Saturdays and Eliza Doolittle as they take to the stage in the massive concert to be held on Sunday 19th June at the UK’s favourite theme park.
Offering guests the chance to escape for a great day of family fun and adrenalin-pumping rides such as TH13TEEN and Oblivion, with a spectactular concert, the event is a sensational addition to the Resort’s theme park season.
After a day enjoying all the Alton Towers theme park has to offer, guests will enjoy the incredible concert from 5.30pm with sets from each of the acts, including a phenomenal headline from the hottest boyband of the moment, JLS.
Tickets at £55 (excluding booking fees) go on general sale at 9:00am on Friday 18th February 2011.
Hmm, so not just hosting an artist's tour this year, they are actually creating an event with multiple artists then? Interesting!
Alton Towers Live - Music Concert 19th June 2011
Bands are just awful but it's good to see alton bringing back concerts.
Again as I said in many threads a rock or metal show makes more sense! Our even a folk festival!

Whilst I have absolutely no interest in any of the acts there, I really hope this will be a success. It's an extremely ambitious move by Alton, and a lot more difficult to pull off than hosting a single night of an existing tour in terms of organisation.
Presumably the £55 is for combined theme park and concert entry. Will be interesting to see what they offer AP holders, and whether there will also be concert only tickets as with the Pink concert (possibly not, since that was designed as a stand alone event, but the demand could still be there). If I'm free I might pop in for the day, as there will be a great atmosphere on park.

I actually like McFly. So I'm thinking I might get a ticket. Not so much for the other acts, but the atmosphere on that day will be electric.
I'm sure the other concert will appeal to another taste when that gets announced soon...

Tempted to go, but I guess it will rammed! I hope they do a reduced price for AP holders, but I have a feeling it will be unlikely.
Large events that span over several days would end up trashing the park. In addition they have a limited amount of "loud" days. Days in which they can go over the noise limit.
What a shocking line up, but I suppose they can't exactly get someone decent, and they'll probably make a killing from it, more than they would with decent acts, I hope it goes well for them, but I sure as hell wont be going.

I'm pretty sure that JLS are selling out all their shows at the moment. It will be hugely succesful for Alton. Given AT's target market this line up is ideal really. It's not one for me though...

Care too expand on what you know and we don't?
I don't like any of he acts, they're far too mainstream, but that's what the general public want, Alton will be up themselves for this though and never stop speculating

I know it will not be to everyone's taste on this board but it will still be a massive concert for Alton Towers. I took my daughter to see P!nk last year and she loved every second of it - as did I.
The line up is not for me but she will be 12 by then and perfect for her so no doubt I will be there too.
This kind of thing can only be good for Alton Towers - long may it continue.

While I think the bands are complete and utter rubbish it's what sadly the public like listening too. But like many others in this topic have said I can see the towers making a fortune and I would not be surprised if the park hits full capacity during the event.
But because of the terrible line-up and that the chances are we won't get a AP discount I won't be going.

Music for kids, thats all I can say. I'm surprised Justin Bieber didn't make the lineup.
Not the slightest bit credible, but at least it will make Towers a good amount of money!

People seem to be getting a bit snobbish on here about these bands but lets not forget we are talking about a concert in a theme park not the Royal Albert Hall.
Alton Towers is a family venue that is bright and brash and is just on the right side of being tacky. It is a place that sells teddy bear souvenirs, hot dogs and candyfloss. And it is well loved for all of that!
So are the bands in the line up that far removed from that image? No. Alton Towers is not the place for an intimate acoustic set - this gig is perfect and will be a fun event for those who chose to attend.
Music is a personal thing and to to say that one kind of music is any more credible than another is ridiculous. As long as people enjoy it, then leave them be.

No Feeder, no visit
Ahhh! I'd love Feeder to play, but sadly they aren't the crowd puller they once were and I doubt they'd even fill 1/4 of the green.
Although not my scene, GREAT event from Alton Towers here. Also, £55 is a good price - especially as it also includes Car Parking!
