I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese Government (in a very smart move) helped pay for it to boost the tourism industry over there, plus the huge population of China means lots of people to go through the gates in the first place, so they will have quite a lot of money, and know with a beast like this they will only get more.
But apprently, wood isn't trusted over there because they are used to using bamboo, and the epic looking Firebolt hasn't bee too successful, or so I've heard.

If Alton could go wooden that’s the type of ride I’d like to see. Modern twists with a classic wooden structure. It's the use of the landscape that makes it look incredible.

It looks fantastic but I want to see some testing clips to decide whether it's a competitor for World's Best Woodie.
After all, Son of Beast looks amazing and it supposedly [s:24y8qp9b]rides[/s:24y8qp9b] rode like a bitch.

How pesimistic must you be to think that? Even if it is rough and slow, it will still b eincredible just for it's scale and location.

It's not roughness I'd worry about but pacing. If it's got awful pacing then I reckon it'll be a pretty average woodie. Also how is it being pessimistic that I'm reserving judgement of it? As I said, it looks fantastic but I think it's a bit early to be saying along the lines of best coaster ever etc. Personally, I think T-Express, Boulder Dash and The Voyage look a bit better than it.
Of course if you disagree you are more than inclined to do so.

I sort of agree with Mitch.
When the track was just a few elements it looked absolutely stunning but now I wonder if it's just too much. Can a ride really keep up a good pacing over so much track
We shall have to wait and see =P~

Rides are about more than just how they ride. It's about the experience, that's what makes PMBO worth riding. The ride itself is poor, but when you factor in everything else, it's great.

Yes but the best rides satisfy every part of the experience, which includes the ride.

To be fair... this is GCI here. I haven't seen one of their [new millennium flyer] coasters that don't have incredible pacing.
If they've made a terrible mistake, which is unlikely, and the pacing is terrible; it will be an absolute travesty no doubt about it. However... using the likes of Thunderhead at Dollywood as an example... that has lot's of 'high' turns in relation to the drop height and the pacing doesn't seem to be affected.
But I don't see what the problem is, in reality that is a monstrous drop! It's 'high' turns by the looks of things in relation to, for example, prowler's ground hugging bunny hops are at the same height.

You mean like the world class theming?
I'm not going to put this ride onto my wishlist until I see it running. We've made that mistake time and time again remember (G-Force at Drayton).
Though GCI have never cocked it up recently, like Intamin seem to cock up and have to reprofile almost every coaster they build.

Who goes to Blackpool for theming? It doesn't attempt to be a theme park or a themed ride, so that's not part of the equation.
