Hey all,

A few of us TTF'ers are planning a trip to Lightwater Valley next Sunday. Rumour has it that the Mondial Topscan 'Whirlwind' will be leaving in September, so get in your rides now.

Also we will be riding the new-for-2010 'Raptor Attack'! Not forgetting:

EDIT: OK, I'm seriously up for this. But getting there and back is an issue. I could travel up on Saturday, but I will have to pick some brains for local knowledge:

1) What's the nearest [useful] station?
2) Can anyone recommend a good place to stay Saturday night... or even offer me a sofa to crash on?
3) Can I blag a lift to/from the station? Or is it within reasonable cab distance? (I'm used to London cab prices, so may be willing to pay a bit more than you northeners :P )
4) Basically, how do I get there?!

I could really do with an Ultimate fix. And I never got to ride their Ladybird coaster on my last trip, so that's another credit and let's not forget the epic looking Raptor Rat Sewer Cave Mine Attack! :mrgreen:

Just as long as I can get there on time, and home on Sunday night, I'm in!

The nearest station is Thirsk, but from what I know / have just researched you will need to get a bus to Ripon, and then another to Lightwater Valley.

Depending where you are travelling from, and what your preferences are I think that you would be better getting the train to either Leeds or Harrogate and then the number 36 bus to Ripon. (Harrogate has the advantage of the bus station being close to the rail station)

I'm very tempted to join you guys there now.

LWV is a pain to get to by public transport, made worse by the fact its a sunday. If you were to travel up from the London area I doubt you'd be able to get there before lunch. I looked at the option of staying over (so I could pop into mingoland on the saturday!) but couldn't find anywhere cheap.

I will be driving up on Sunday Diogo and picking Sam up from Nottingham on the way, so as another option if you could maybe get a train up to Nottingham on Saturday and find somewhere cheap to stay around there, I'd be able to pick you up. Unfortunately I'm going out on the Sat night else I would have offered you a couch

I would of course be able to drop you off again at Nottingham station on the way home where you should be able to get a train home, though I haven't checked times. They usually run till pretty late even on Sundays.

I will try and see if I can find anyhere cheap to stay if you're interested

EDIT: Thinking about it, it would probably be as easy to get a train to Newark via the East Coast Line from Kings Cross. This may open up cheap accommodation options a bit more and is where I live so could pick you up very easily.

This all seems to be coming together rather well.

I will be driving up from Stockport, probably arriving around 10-10.15

Looks like we're on course to beat last year's turnout of 4

Also forgot to say, I'm able to get up to six people in for £13.95 each (online price is £15.95). This would require meeting up before anyone enters the park though as I have to go to the ticket booths.

Newark could work. I have friends in Lincoln I may be able to crash with Saturday, But I think the earliest train from Lincoln to Newark wouldn't arrive till about 11:30. TBH, the first train of the day from London would get me into Newark at 11:06! :P

I can get to Nottingham for about 11:25. Still too late.
Unless I hang around Notts Saturday night, and stalk Sam? :P

Just to warn you, it will be an early start on Sunday as it's a good 2 hours drive from Nottingham and we are going to meet up with Vik enroute for a spot of Brekky Will arrange the details with Sam in next few days
