The OFFICIAL Lightwater meet video is HERE!

"10 of TTF's finest head up north for an action-packed day of serious medical injury and mega-lulz."

Trip report:

Had an absolutely AMAZING time at Lightwater Valley! Let me make it clear: I LOVE this park.

Highlights:
 • 9 goes on Europe's official second-best coaster, The Ultimate.
 • The Ultimate making me seriously consider whether it may be my favorite coaster in the world.
 • "BRACE... BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!"
 • Raptor Attack having awesome theming, and the best animatronics in the UK.
 • Whirlwind being INSANELY intense. I found it far more intense than at Goose, but apparently I'm wrong!
 • Finally doing all three slides on Falls of Terror.
 • "SNACK IN THE MOUTH"
 • Staff letting me on-ride film on Black Widows Web and the Dodgems.
 • The extremely pleasurable car journey there and back with Diogo ;)
 • All staff extremely friendly and helpful
 • Killer death skate race
Lowlights:
 • Lying in bed all Monday due to back injuries from The Ultimate.
 • Going home :(
 • The Wave, like all pirate ships, looking far better than it actually was.
Thanks to everyone for a wonderful day, special thanks to Mattmash for the lift there and back! :)

Great video there, its amazing how innocent the ultimate looks on that pov. You can see some of the jerkyness, but it gives no indication of the insanity that results from the [s:wunboevv]terribly[/s:wunboevv]amazing banked corners.

Omgz TTF is famous on t'internetz!

Lightwater Valley's Blog
On the coaster front, not many people may know this, but our legendary Ultimate was recently voted the second best roller coaster in Europe (second only to Europa's Blue Fire) by a Towers Times forum. A few guys from Towers Times recently visited Lightwater and you can check out their reviews on the following forum:

viewtopic.php?p=524861#p524861

So, as well as being the longest coaster in Europe, our very own Ultimate is up there with Europe's very best! Allied to this, The Eagle's Claw is arguably one of the finest flat rides in the UK, Raptor Attack is arguably one of the best themed and Whirlwind is just, well, a bit crazy! So, you could say that we really are an action packed value day out!
Lightwater Valley is really interesting me at the moment, hopefully I can get to TTF North to see what all the fuss is about.
Glad to hear you all have a good trip! :)

I e-mailed Lightwater the other night and mentioned their placing in the coaster poll amongst a few other things, glad they've picked up on it. :D

They also mentioned a few other nice surprises which I will post very shortly. ;)

Great video, seeing the Skate Carts reminded me of the parties the staff used to have years ago, they would let us drink and also use some of the rides! The Skate Carts were hilarious (and dangerous) with a belly full of ale! Is the hell slide still there?

That went years ago.

Gator Park (undercover kiddie rides) are now there.

Here's a photo of the old thing though!

That used to be my fave ride to be the operator on, had a right laugh with scared kids not wanting to try it, also used to be next to the burger stand which is why I piled so much weight on working there!

:yikes: That looks like a death trap! :P

:?

Oh wait, I forgot where we were talking about for a sec. Looks about right for Lightwater, actually.

Its basically a wall, we have one just like it at Big Fun, which is indeed big fun, its alot like Oblivion, except no carriages and you're simply falling next to a wall :/

I'm sure they had one of these in the funhouse at Blackpool before Valhalla was put in

The idea is your supposed to just walk off the edge not sit down

Not the case, even in the 80's we had strict rules on this as someone somewhere had a serious back injury from standing and walking off, all riders had to sit down at Lightwater (although the staff never did and used to show off their 'skills' to the admiring girlies  )

Yeah, you definitely had to sit on the edge.

Flamingo Land had one too; Devil's Drop. Used to be next to the chip shop in the Little Monsters area. The play area at Metroland also had one, albeit plastic, which went straight in to the ball pool.
