Power Cut(s)
Heard it's back up, although still unsure. If so the downtime would of been around 20-30mins on the right side.
Assuming that the lighting is mainly LEDs, they won't draw too much power. Strobes use a bit more, but shouldn't cause large spikes unless something is wired up wrong. If, however, they are using good old fashioned PARcans, those babies drink electricity. They get through amps like I get through vodka! :P
I believe someone mentioned a rather large sound system as well?
I wonder how they are powering the mazes? If it was down to me, I would hire in generator trucks rather than risk using (and loosing) the mains supply.
But like you say... the mains at Alton are not exactly reliable.

They will get the electricity off the main source at Alton Towers, they didn't use generators last year, so I doubt they will this year. But even if they're only L.E.D'S they are still consuming electricy and so are the speakers and what-not. Hopefully this wasn't caused by the Scarefest attraction's :hinsane:
